Cheap Flights to Japan (Tokyo) Mid/Late Feb

Hi Guys, I'm looking for cheap flights to Tokyo from Sydney mid/late feb. The cheapest I've been able to find is $550 each way on webjet. Anyone seen anything better or know of any up coming sales? Any advice will be appreciated!

  • I'm heading to Tokyo mid-February (19th) from Melbourne and returning early March.

For starters, it's probably best to read this and avoid Webjet

I booked MEL-KUL-HND with AirAsia for roughly $630 return including fees, taxes and luggage. As mentioned, if you don't mind budget airlines, AirAsia is probably the best and cheapest option. Even Scoot looks like it's about $1200 return from SYD-NRT.

if you fly AirAsia you're flying to the opposite end of where you actually wanna be. I don't get it.

sure you save a hundred bucks, but flying 8 hrs the wrong direction probably isn't worth the money saved.

who in their right mind wants to fly 8 hours, THE COMPLETE WRONG WAY… sit in LCCT for a few hours stinking and annoyed and then have to fly 8 hours to TOKYO! ??? anyone? NO ONE!

then to get home instead of flying to Japan to home in 9 hours, you fly from Japan to KL LCCT in 8 hours and sit there and then catch another plane from LCCT to Australia for another 7-8 hours

unless you're a total tightass, you would never put yourself through this torture.

      • If it was a huge saving I could understand but Jetstar fly to Japan so it's not usually that much difference in price.

I have actually flown Jetstar to Japan before and believe me, it was probably the same level of torture as what I'm about to endure to save myself $300 in comparison to what I paid last time. ADL-MEL, slept in the airport overnight for 7 hours until MEL-CNS then 9 hours to Tokyo.

The only reason I'm flying the route that I am is because when you live in Adelaide, you have very few options for overseas budget travel. You have to fly to the east coast to hop on Scoot, AirAsia or Jetstar or you'll never leave this sleepy town. I booked my flights before the ADL-KUL route commenced but it's actually a lot easier to pay the $100 one-way from Adelaide, get yourself into Asia (Singapore or Malaysia) and then go from there, considering those two countries have more budget airline options.

In saying that, I snapped up three trips' worth of $99 one-way AirAsia fares between ADL and KUL. If I have to sit somewhere that's not Adelaide for 8 hours in between two 7-8 hour budget flights, I'm cool with that.

        • Nice story but way off topic for a Sydney to Osaka flight

If I have to sit somewhere that's not Adelaide for 8 hours in between two 7-8 hour budget flights, I'm cool with that.

Now even Adelaide airport is going to be "cooler" than the LCCT. My guess is you havent yet used your 3 flights yet, or COOL, isnt the right word to use for the LCCT

  • Nice username man!

I too am going to Tokyo in mid Feb and leaving late Feb. I booked Air Asia in November for about $733 all up (luggage and return) - while more recently, my cousin booked the exact flights for around $600 ish. I agree with obses2ion though, when I was comparing prices, it seemed like Air Asia had the cheapest flights for the most part, as long as you're fine with flying on a budget airline.

  • Thank You Guys!
