Acer A1-810 tablet memory

Been using my Acer for about 2 months now, and lately I noticed that it's eating up a lot of RAM even when I have nothing running. Given it's my first Android tablet, what has been you guys experiences in terms of typical memory usage? If I look under Apps, it says it's using close to 800 mb, which means it's only got about 200 mb left.

In addition, is it worthwhile to run an antivirus apps? Of course running an anti virus apps in the background would reduce the memory even more…..

  • Android is Linux which uses available ram as much as possible (pre-caching) and releases it when other things need to happen. It's nothing to worry about.

In some situations it might be just a poorly coded app that has a memory leak and uninstalling it will fix the problem.

If you have a rooted device, you can use Greenify to freeze the process and prevent them from using up resources and battery life. However this should be used with caution — not all apps should be frozen as they might impact the stability of your ROM.
