Lenovo are offering their little 7" android tablet (A1000L - $149) for just $1 extra when you purchase any ThinkPad X, T, W series laptop (excludes X131e for some reason?)

There are number of deals on the Lenovo website atm such as $70 off a Win8 Tablet when you use the coupon "CASHOFF" plus there is 30% off accessories such as the Tablet 2 dock (however I would assume that this is a usual thing to upsell to the unsuspecting.)

Details on the A1000L follow:

    Scotty's dropped his game

It was actually briefly mentioned in the comments in Scotty's Cyber Monday post. The deal has been going on since at least November. The tablet is probably just too crappy for people to bother with.. haha.

      • Darn. Sorry guys. I only searched on the actual Tablet deal. I should have checked Scotty's post!

Ahh, but it wasn't obvious in that post, so people might still benefit from it.

  • New Carbon X1 is out, why not wait.

As long as you are happy with the worst customer service you're ever likely to encounter, the machines are passable.

Background: Waited two months for a repair on a laptop which should have been under warranty but they disputed. At the seven week mark, they said they would repair it under warranty. They sent it back the next week with no repair attempted. Refused to do an onsite repair to rectify their problem so now it's off with the courier to Lenovo again. TL;DR no laptop since 1st November, 2013.

    • That is such a shame - back in the day when Lenovo was IBM, I had the BEST customer service experience with them when my laptop needed fixing - couldn't have been better…things change

Agreed. That's why I went with them for the last purchase. Never again though. They've been cutting corners with their laptops too, eg. ditching the magnesium plate that protects the LCD in recent Thinkpad T models.

They did have a Customer Care team based on Brisbane who didn't have the power to do anything but at least could give you some honest information about Lenovo customer service processes and what to expect. Unfortunately, that team was disbanded during the course of this nightmare.

        • Agreed. Their quality has gone downhill. They used to be bullet proof. I still think their keyboards are the best on any laptop, but their displays are amongst the worst.

        • Depending on the model, you can choose a higher-quality screen when ordering.

Someone at work just got a Thinkpad Yoga in. It's really solid and the upgraded screen is pretty good.

Their service isn't very good though. My Thinkpad Tablet 2 took 3 months to get fixed.

  • They seem to have this promotion going on every now and then. Last time I checked I believe you can only use one code? So you either get the tab for $1 with heavily inflated laptop prices or you get a decently priced lappy.

  • Yeesh, prices on the new T and X models are a bit steep even with the freebie

  • Dupe??

Also, hasn't this free tab thingy been going a while?

Probably another "pricing error"… and you won't get your money back for a couple of months…
