  • How thick is it? I didn't see it on the page.

    • Hi Jorkus,

It's 1mm thick and also comes with a leather case.

      • EDIT: Didnt use code first, nvm

        • where did you apply the code?

        • +1

Go to your cart, you'll find the box for the code there (not by going straight to checkout).

        • got it, thanks!

Got one of these from Meritline a couple of years ago for about this price. Although I agree with Knackers 'Junkware' comment above and although you can buy these all day long from Chinese eBayers for $1 these are pretty useful purely as a cheap yet VERY strong bottle opener. I use one mainly as a bottle opener in my workshop but have actually reached for it for one or two other silly jobs too like scraping labels off glass and using as a packing plate while gluing things together etc.

Worth a buck for sure but absolutely nothing more IMO.

  • Coupon code "WELCOMEAU" is not valid.

    • Hi Grum,

I just tested it, the code should still work. Every customer can use the coupon once.

  • I had one of these in my wallet and airport security relieved me of it on one of my flights (not the first time through security with it - go figure)

    • Hmm that is strange. I wonder why?

      • Probably since it could be used as a "knife"

      • These are so kickass that the can opener can just rip through the cockpit doors

I was told it could be used as a knife - I pointed out that it would be a pretty crappy one but wasn't about to get in to a fight with security over a $1 item

Flew at least 4 times with it in my wallet before I was advised it would be confiscated. Common sense prevailed those first few times?

        • Crappy knife is still a knife though. Crappy security those first few times IMO.

        • It's for safety reasons. You're in a confined space with a bunch of people you don't know.

I don't want someone with a knife (or some dangerous sharp object) on a plane with me.

A knife can't open cockpit doors, neither can a hammer, a match, etc.

It can be a danger to people, so it's not allowed on a plane.

        • +1

What about a pen? you could do more damage with a pen than this 'knife'

        • Just use the knife that comes with your meal…

        • Australia has been insisting on crappy plastic cutlery on air flights since 9/11. I learnt this on a Singapore Airlines flight when the hostess explained that they were able to use metal cutlery for flights to other non-Australian destinations. I understand the Fed government is reviewing the plastic rule at the moment - so mabye in the near future you might be able to take this wallet sized battle-axe onto an airplane.

        • I once had HK airport question my cheap plastic earring studs…cause they're sharp..
          seriously?!?!

    • Same thing happened to me in Singapore a few years ago.

  • "WELCOMEAU" worked for me.

Rep, the bottom of your website suggests that payment can be made by AMEX, VISA, Mastercard, PayPal, however, (not sure if it is related, but after entering the code) the only payment options presented to me were PayPal and Bank Transfer.

I have a Mastercard Giftcard with a small amount left that I wanted to use.

    Would this not work?

    • +1

Paypal are probably their credit card processor. Try choosing the paypal option, but not logging in to your paypal account, and seeing if there's a credit card option in there.

    • +1

      Hi Bangforbuck,

Unfortunately we do not accept Amex payment directly on our website but there is an alternative way you can use is that you choose pay by paypal, it will redirect to the paypal page, on there you can use your Amex card to finalize the payment.

    • Hi DavidRJW,

Yes There are hundreds visitor on the website at the moment. Sorry about the lag…

      Regards

      • Also, please outline if it is a limit of 1 per customer. I tried putting 2 in my cart and said that there was a limit

        • Thanks for the advice, revised the post.

The site is ozbargained. It's loading extremely slow

  • cant get on site

  • I just ordered one even though very slow website…thanks rep.

Great deal but warning their website is hella slow and stores plaintext passwords

    • Hi Cub3,

Thanks for your comment but just want to let you know that we don't store plaintext passwords in our systems, only the customer will receive the email that includes their chosen password.

      Regards

      • +3

Still sloppy security practice sending passwords via e-mail. Can be an indication that passwords are not secured.

        • +1

The only way to securely store passwords is not to store them.

      • +2

You don't seem to understand, if you are sending us the password over unencrypted channels, then you've already compromised it.

And don't give me any "we use super secure e-mail transmission systems" bullshit, because you know with high certainty that the end user won't be.

    • Magento default and no its not 'storing' your password

website is too slow :( can't load it

Got one $1 for 30 minutes of time getting it not really worth it. It would not add to cart on firefox but worked in internet explorer.

  • This is the standard price for this item in eBay (including shipping)
Only + point is you get the item quicker compared to shipping from china/hongkong in ebay

  • It says: Coupon code "WELCOMEAU" is not valid.

    What am I doing wrong?

    • Ah nevermind, I got it.

You have to choose your shipping method first.

  • Bad idea to carry this around if you live in victoria. Nanny does not approve

Was in stock when I tried to checkout.
    SOOOOOO SLOW!!!

    • Here comes the pitchforks…

  • +1

Website is way too slow, and went out of stock when checking out.

    • -2

      I feel your pain!

  • Had been trying to checkout for 20 minutes and it's out of stock, I do not like this deal.

  • -1

Wow tried to checkout over the last hour and now is out of stock :(

  • I always google to see if the deal in ozbargain is actually a deal.

Simple 10s search tells you that this is the normal price for this item on eBay.

I get the feeling some sellers are exploiting ozbargain site just to market/promote their items without actually giving us a "worthy" deal

People who missed out here can easily buy the item from eBay as I have mentioned in my previous post.
Only issue will be the wait time to receive the item

    • Yeah i bought one because i've considered it in the past, but for some reason didn't pull the trigger. The attraction here was same price as the cheapest ones on ebay, with minimal wait time for delivery.

      • Why do you need it so urgently now?

        • More like; well I've thought about these before, and this is as good a deal as any.

  • -1

You can get these for approximately $1 on Ebay, any time.

  • Still so expensive to me….. this item is like… 0.5 RMB in China/ 0.09 AUD

    • I'd imagine shipping is more expensive than the item itself… AU 50c maybe?

    • Hi,

Could you show me the source that sell this item at 0.5 Chinese Yuan please? Maybe I found the wrong source?

      Thanks

  • wtf i bought this yesterday and i received mine already
