Every time you ask that, you remind me of Julius Sumner Miller

you remind me of Julius Sumner Miller

        Why is it so?

        • +1

          Because it's 80's weekend! Yay!!

        • Omg this brought tears to my eyes. You just reminded me that I'm getting old. Cheers :(

  • meh specs. not even full hd

  • +2

For the spec and price i dont think you can buy anything close to this. Pick this up last week and very happy with the purchase. Elsewhere listed 1000+

Battery life is great. I got 8 hours+ the other day with wifi on browsing and doing ms words and excel.

The weight comes to 2.1 kg in my scale so not so light but good design. Touch pad is very good. But clicking is quite bad. You can ise apple sryle gesture and it behaves very fluid.

    • Does it get hot?

      • Pretty much a given that most laptops run from 60-110 degress celcius.

It's a pity because some only consume 8 watts but are nasty hot. If that heat could be translated into processing power, that would have been magnificient.

If you are just using word processing, then your computer might not heat up, but once you start watching videos, vroom, the fans start to make noise.

        • Thanks for that. Yes, I totally understand that laptops can indeed get hot, however, I'm writing to you now from an older HP DV6 laptop which under light load (word processing, web browsing) can get hot enough to the touch that resting your palm below the keyboard could provide you with a mild burn.
I'd simply like to know if any owners of this laptop (Antzz) has any feedback on how hot it can get - i.e. will there be heat discomfort for simply just using the laptop for basic tasks.

Thought 1366x768 is very ugly, thought HP would not use this on Envy, wrong!

  • 2.1kg is hardly an "ultrabook", and while it does have an SSD for the operating system, it will rely heavily on the HDD (much slower). That, with the screen resolution, turns me off this one.

On the plus side there is the price, 8gb ram, 4th gen i5, but overall it's bulky compared to real ultrabooks (most are between 1.1-1.5kg at most). Not a deal for me, but maybe for someone else.

    • yeh i think the price is the decider, you're not gonna get a lappy with those specs for between 1.0-1.5kg. Closest I can think of is Sony Vaio Pro 13 which was $1099 at shopping express at one point

      • +1

You can easily get those specs between 1-1.5kg. The Vaio Pro is the lightest I know of, coming in at 1.06kg. There are plenty that are 1.3kg~, bearing the "ultrabook" title. There are even some sub-$1000 with 3rd gen i5, 8gb ram, 13" screen, about 1.5kg. I totally forget what it was, pretty sure a samsung ativ book 5 or something.

Idk where i'm going but yeah, you can get those specs under 1.5kg easily, just not for $800.

        • sorry i couldn't type that day. what i meant to say was

"you're not gonna get a lappy with those specs for that price and between 1.0-1.5kg."

          my bad haha!
