Prices seem inflated about 10 times what you'd pay for the same item in China.

Hi @jv, thanks for your comment. All prices in the browsing section of our website are directly retrieved from Taobao. There are many individual sellers on Taobao (just like eBay), so some sellers may have items at higher/inflated prices while some others will have more reasonably priced items.

We don't charge a service fee, all we do is display the item costs in AUD at our current exchange rate. If you need help with any specific items we're more than happy to assist you. :-)

  • Prices seem reasonable.
    Shipping seems reasonable as well.
I assume you're charging at your own exchange rate to make a slight profit?

    • Seems like so, their "2-hour-old" exchange rate is $1 AUD = 5.06 RMB, while the XE rate is 5.44 RMB…

    • Thanks @mparf, that is correct. :-)

We've been asked a lot on how we make profit and I wrote an answer a while ago in the FAQ section of our website:

Just trying to order this but can't work out how to add it to the cart as it's all in Chinese. Can you please tell me how much shipping is after the $5 discount? Thanks.

Hi @tightarse, thanks for your question! Basically this is a Chevrolet Cruze sedan and we haven't really ordered a car before. I will ask my logistics partner about details on shipping and importing cars to Australia and get back to you via PM. Thanks! :-)

    • You're entering a whole new world of red-tape, expense and complexity trying to import a current model vehicle into Australia.
      Good luck.

      • Thanks mate I'd also guess this would be difficult and complex, one of the major concern is that you may not drive this car on road as this is a left-hand drive vehicle. Anyways we will always try our best to help with all customer inquiries. :-)

Did you read the T&C's for purchasing this car?

  • heard of this website b4…never tried yet.
also..$5 off $100 is not considered a bargain here.
pls..hire someone more professional to build your website..
    +1 for your replies above.

    • Thanks mate for your vote.

We do have plan for a major upgrade to our website in the coming months. As we're a family business and will be building the whole website ourselves in the foreseeable future please bear with us in the meantime. :-)

      • and will be building the whole website ourselves

might be better to hire an expert…

        • Thanks @jv. We will definitely look into this option. I'll let everybody know when we renovate our website. :-)

  • Hi Chinabuy
Are you able to buy either Alipay,Tenpay,China Mobile,China Unicom or China Telecom recharge cards/codes I want these to top up my Meizu Flyme account.
Or do you have a suggestion on how I can do this ?
    thanks

    • Hi @bolinao,

If you are looking to top up your Alipay/Tenpay account please email us at [email protected] and we can help you with that.

For mobile phone recharge cards please check this out:

      http://s.taobao.com/search?initiative_id=staobaoz_20140104&j…

I haven't used a Meizu Flyme account before so I am not sure which type of recharge card would be most appropriate. If you could send us an email and let us know if you have recharged before (and what card you used) we'll definitely try to assist you further.

  • After following the non-intuitive instructions.
First a complicated searching and browsing in Chinese for what I want.
Then going back to your website and pasting in the URL, entering in the price manually etc - another complicated and convoluted process.
It says the item I want to buy is going to cost $904, plus I assume International delivery - and I couldn't even work out how to find or manually enter domestic shipping prices as required.
… so I'm going to go back to Aliexpress and buy the same item for USD$55.30 with free delivery direct to my door, their buyer guarantee protection and without any 3rd party or other complications.

As others have said, you really need to get your website properly designed to make the searching and ordering process easy rather than overly complex.

    • Hi @Wolfy, I am sorry for the inconvenience this have caused. There must be something wrong in your order and we're sure it is our problem and we'll definitely fix it for you if you could give us another chance to get it right.

One potential problem is that you'll need to put down prices and domestic shipping costs in Chinese Yuan (CNY). Then our price estimator will automatically calculate prices in AUD. Could you please let me know if the $904 in CNY or AUD? Even if it is in CNY (then around A$180) it seems to be more expensive than what you can find on Aliexpress, but it may be a different item there.

In most cases you can find items at comparable (if not cheaper) prices on Taobao, and the product range is much larger than Aliexpress. The problem with Taobao is that it is all in Chinese and that's where our service comes in. As we've just started there must be many issues with our website, and we're constantly working to improve it. Thanks a lot for letting us know about your experience, I'll be sending you a PM to ask about details of your order. Please reply to me if you're still interested.

  • No real deal here, just advertising and beta testing.

    • Hi @Holysmoke. I am sorry to hear this and we're aware that certain portions of our website being difficult to use. We will be improving and upgrading our website and I hope you could check it back later. Thank you!

  • These are genuine galaxy note 3? http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.217.SD0yao&id… how much would it cost to ship to sydney? edit: dont worry i just realised its the n9000 version (no lte)

    • Hi @oringal,

Thanks for your question. Most reputable sellers on Taobao sell genuine mobile phones and this one seems to be legit (with three crowns their reputation is high).

As mobile phones have batteries inside we'll need to send it through more expensive couriers. Assume the parcel is 1kg then it will be around $28 through Airmail or $38 through Express.

  • Is there a way to view it in English without having to go to an external translation site? Because that's just too much effort for the volume of things I like to look at.

    • Hi @pyr0maniac, we've got a quick guide on how to use the free translation tool provided by Google Chrome.

      http://www.chinabuy.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7

The short answer is that you visit http://www.taobao.com then right click anywhere and choose "Translate to English" (the option may be greyed out until the page is fully loaded).

Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I'm more than happy to help you further. :-)
