What is the difference between you buying 6 from a shop or 6 online? Are they going to refuse to sell you the 6 dresses in store?
This is just stupid. If they could have sold them at a higher price they would have.

Given their limited range, it's quite clear they're just a very small seller, and they probably don't have the quantities available to comfortably fill your order.
Personal use is the opposite of commercial use. Commercial use is you stand to make a profit, and personal use is you don't stand to make a profit.
Have you contacted them?
I assume you are having a large wedding party, but I don't know many people these days who have 6 brides maids.
A simple phone call to them explaining the situation might resolve it, and also clarify their comments.
On the other hand, they might insist on the discount for a certain number of the 6, but a different price for the rest due to the way they tried the loss leader sale.
