Lifesaver Lif3000 Smoke Alarm continues to chirp even if i replaced the new battery

I have the above hardwired smoke alarms in my home. Last Friday it started chirping so I took it out assuming it needed a new battery. Took it out yesterday and replaced the battery but it simply continues to chirp. I have found the User manual online but there is no reference to anything like this.
Anyone has the similar problem and how to fix this?

  • Have you put out the fire? ;)

  • Sensor must be busted. They have a finite life span

  • maybe there is dust in the sensors. you could give it blow out or vacuum or similar.

  • Reboot it (press and hold the test button until the alarm sounds) to see if it resets the chirping.

    • Thanks guys, apparently the alarm needs to be replaced, called the electrician to replaced it

  • HI,
I've also got LIF3000 alarm which keeps chirping even after the battery has been replaced. Assuming the alarm needs replacing (understand all alarms only last for around 10 years) was wondering whether anyone knows if I can buy and fit a new LIF3000, thus saving the need for a new base plate/mount to be installed? Alternatively, if the LIF3000 is no longer available, anyone know whether the newest version (LIF5000?) would fit the same base/mount?
    Cheers.

    • Hi, I've also got a LIF3000 and it seems it reached the end of its working life. Did you end up buying the newest version? If so, did it fit the base?

You would save me the electrician!
      Cheers

  • Hi All
I had the same problems where I replaced the batteries and it still chirped. I seem to have had the same frustrations as others but I think I found the problem. There is a metal hinged arm on the unit that is meant to hook under a plastic plate when sliding the unit back on.
I only picked this up because I have 2 units and when I thought I had better change the battery on the other noticed it.
Anyway this solved my problem and life has been quiet again.

  • This can happen if you accidentally press the hush button when you replace the battery, it will chirp for ten mins - according to their youtube. Link below.
