Hi,
On the move & currently in Melbourne with family (6 - parents, wife children ) in a people mover. Keen to show my parents the firework display on NYE. But with old parents don't want to be in the crowded areas….can someone please suggest a vantage point where I can drive out to & watch the display……slightly far is ok.
Regards
Pete

Thanks a ton meiliu100!
Pete, IMO Maribyrning too far from the city, (however, this depends where you are coming from).
My recommendation, corner of arden and bellair st kensington 3031. Google map it, park anywhere on the street, residential, free parking (as yet no resident permit required). Head to the foot bridge or along the fence, almost unobstructed views to the fireworks, and now that the troubled wheel is 'alive', you get a really good view of it.
Infact I should contact the council, and I should sell tickets!, I believe is that good.
By the way, I work across the road from there, that's how I know. Here's a Google maps link, go to street view, to the right of the bushes is the foot bridge (railway), just behind the larger gumtree, you can just make out the wheel at the Docklands.

Thanks a ton ozf1. I am seriously considering going to this location tomorrow. Will keep you posted about the experience…thanx once again!
No problems, if you do, you won't be disappointed.
Doncaster Shopping Town carpark has a lovely view of the city. You can go there early to do some shopping/window shopping, have a rest in one of the nice cafe in the open area. There are plenty of cushion sofa for shoppers to sit in the open area for a rest and then in the evening head to the carpark area of the shoppingtown hotel upstairs for dinner and watch the fireworks from there.
Hi Pete
Along La Scala ave, Maribynong. We went there many years ago, hope there are no new estates been builded which could block the view. Anyway, good luck.
