Sofabed from Domayne. Would you consider this a 'good purchase'?

I wasn't sure whether this was worthy of being posted on the main bargain pages because I can't seem to find any other store selling the same.

Domayne are selling a 'Slumba' Click-Clack Sofa Bed at an apparently discounted price of $795 (plus $75 for delivery).

The sofa bed can either be adjusted along the long edge to make a double bed, or adjusted on one of the short edges (when in its flat position) to make a chaise, which has me considering its purchase.

The only problem is Domayne (and likewise Harvey Norman) has a reputation for exorbitant prices, and my initial thoughts are this price isn't so "discounted". However the do have a 50 month interest free deal going on as well.

This sofabed appears to be 'exclusive' to Domayne, so it's unlikely I'll find it somewhere else for the sake of price comparison. If anyone is aware of a similar sofabed I'd be happy to hear about it. Otherwise, do you think this is a good buy?

  • I personally don't think it's a very good deal. You could get this click clack sofa bed from Super Amart for $199.95
    http://www.superamart.com.au/furniture/lounges-sofas/sofa-be…

    Or this one for $149.95

They both look almost the same and are made of the same materials (PU + steel).

    • Thanks for that.

Unfortunately neither of these superamart sofa beds have the 'adjustable chaise' feature that the Domayne sofa bed has, but with that said, it hardly seems worth about roughly $600 more just for that feature.

I think I'll leave it at Domayne. Thanks again.

      EDIT
Sorry, I posted too soon before having more of a look around the superamart website. It seems they do have something similar.

  • No sofa bed is a good buy, unless your intention is to ensure that visitors don't stay long.

      :-D That's the idea.

The spare bedroom is empty at the moment and the Domayne catelog got me thinking about the sofabed, but based on what donga100 said, it doesn't seem to be that good a deal.

I don't want the spare room to be filled up with a spare bed either so the sofa seemed a good compromise.

Those click-clacks are fine for limited use— even as a lounge, they're not great to sit on for extended periods. Ditto for sleeping- it's really a "I need to crash for the night & could just as easily sleep on the floor" sort of comfort level- lol. Except the guest in question might not be able to actually rise from the floor in the middle of the night, so the click-clack is, in essence, a "stepping stool" to standing up?

Go cheap- they're all basically the same.

        :)

  • Don't do it - the price is extremely expensive-look further on web sites to find what you are looking for.
