  • Anyone ? :)

  • Any USB based headset or USB based Logitech headset or
    http://www.mightyape.com.au/product/PS3/Turtle-Beach-P11-Gam…

You can get it a bit cheaper but I like mightyape, always been reliable, even when I thought they jipped me, still reliable, oh me of little faith.

I have the turtle beach. Works well, easy to set up (just plug in USB and your ready to go), wide cups don't crush your ears or head. I would recommend. JB have them and if you can snag them for around $50-$60 total, their a solid choice.

Cups aren't as comfortable as my Sennheiser HD 201, but hey, Sennheiser just make dam comfortable headphones. Their headsets are comfortable but more expensive and I've never tried one for talking on my Mac.

    Hope I have helped.

  • Yeah i would recommend that Logitech g series.

  • Thanx all for your replies :) much appreciated.

  • Hi..logitech g35 at dse dapto store $107.

    Is that ok ?

They r usb.. is it ok for imac?

    Cheers

    • I use http://gaming.logitech.com/en-au/product/g230-stereo-gaming-… which I got from dick smith on sale for 50 bucks. (Uses the normal mac/sound input ports, so will work on mac). The G35 does not appear to work on mac according to google.

Pretty sure all the logitech headphones are using software surround sound, which razer offer for free (with a donation to childs play if you want). http://www.razerzone.com/au-en/surround (unsure if this works on mac, but I'm sure theres some software somewhere for it) > can see a few pieces of software saying they do it here > https://www.google.com.au/webhp?tab=ww&ei=werEUvGXNsurlQWx5o… you will need to find out whatever is the best one yourself/ask a mac gamer.

I like the ability to turn the surround sound off anyway, since it sucks for music.

      • :) Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

        Cheers

  • Please pardon my ignorance on this topic but isnt all headset surround sound done by software? I mean obviously they cant put 5 or 7 speakers in a headset .. plus a sub .

Or is it a case of software surround vs hardware surround of some sort other than actual speakers?

Does anyone know the best 5.1 minimum surround which uses the most reliable way of producing the surround… which will definitely work on a imac ?

Logitech seems ok but the packets only say the require pc with windows.

    cheers

    • +1

Yeah the non-surround sound logitech, the red ones, are the same as the blue ones (g430?) without a tiny usb with the surround sound software. The red g35 are the better value, cos the usb won't work on mac anyway, you just get 3rd party software that does it.

Real surround sound is better and I do think some headphones are actually real surround sound (ie, they have the 5 or 7 speakers in the headset). http://www.razerzone.com/tiamat/en nfi if any exist/work on mac though. I really dont know if they are worth the money though. I've never had one myself. The only ones I know of are the tiamat and a turtle beach one.
