Should I cancel my 28degrees card?

Since 28degrees card announced they will be charging a (crazy) fee for overseas ATM withdrawals from 1Jan 2014(no matter whether you have debit in the card or not)i've already got myself a citibank debit card to replace the free overseas ATM withdrawals feature. It also allows me to have free overseas purchase.

I know there's no annual fee involved but i'm not sure if there's any value or worth keeping the 28degrees card now? I also have another Citibank cashback credit card which is use on a (almost) daily basis.

what are the other 28degrees card owners doing about their card? thanks

Why? There's no cost to keeping it and it's still a good CC for both local and overseas purchases.

    • I'll give you overseas, but it is absolutely NOT good for local purchases as it is not linked to any reward program. Not relevant to me, but the interest rate is diabolical too.

To summarise, it is only good for overseas purchases. Nothing else.

      • Anybody who pays interest on CCs is stupid. Probably only loan sharks have a higher rate of interest. As for rewards, I don't spend enough to make them worthwhile. Maybe you might.

  • Can't see any reason to cancel. Still the best Credit card option for all overseas purchases. And its free so even its used for only 1 purchase a year it still makes it worthwhile holding on to.

    • What makes it better than the Citibank card? The exchange rate?

      • Mate, read my comment that is a bit further below for the answer.

opt for the price protection and it can be useful for your local electronic purchases.

always pay before your statement is printed and you dont have to pay any fee.

Also, remember that the CitiBank card is a debit card while the 28 degrees is a credit card and are essentially two different products. My advice would be to keep them both. I would only get rid of the 28 degrees if I was looking to get a loan.

    • Yep was going to add - if you are looking to sign up for another cc or a loan, it would be worth getting rid of the 28 degrees one.

  • thanks, I think that's a good point mentioning that 28degrees is a credit card and Citibank is a debit. I guess if I use the Citibank debit card for purchase it will draw down on my available cash
