One of the supermarkets I visited had lots of stuff marked down to 19c BEFORE Christmas (on Christmas Eve)…
Needless to say, it sold pretty quickly ;-)

fair call - the Ital pannetone is pretty dry & ordinary even without the mould. But a good pannetone is awesome. Standard xmas day breakfast at our house, accompanied by fresh raspberries, strawberries & blueberries…and chocolate

Why?
Mince pies still $1.59 at Coles VIC and $0.79 at Campbellfield VIC.
First time I tried these I was expecting them to be small meat mince pies. Nasty surprise.
Went thru last night and found mince pies have gone up from 16c to 39c, gingerbread houses up from $1.20 to $3.
Chocolate cups were reduced to $1.25 for pack of 9 but after buying 3 pkts I found they are checp sugary chocolate, not the good stuff they ha a few years ago.
New year price rises like everything else ;-)
Egg nog was marked down heaps at my local Coles as well, $1-something a litre.
