Suggests on 2 monitors vs 1 ultra wide

As the title suggests, I'm looking to purchase either 2 monitors a single ultra wide monitor. I'm leaning more towards the ultra wide, as I don't like dual monitor setups (flicking my head back and forth hurts my neck sometimes), so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

Here's a video link to the monitor I had in mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrSfPdih93U

  • If you're looking to expanding to 3 monitors as most gamers do, then go for it - it gives a 3 angled perception to gaming such as those in the racing titles. But if you're only looking for two monitors or an ultra wide monitor for the availability of more screen size - go for the single ultra wide monitor. I agree, it hurts my head sometimes looking at dual screen setups.. as well as the annoying black strips of screen borders between them.

  • I bought a Dell U2913WM from the Dell Factory Outlet not long ago for $399. I was previously running two 22 inch monitors. I found the quality and colour vastly superior in the Dell to what I had, but also loved the single ultra wide screen for gaming. The extra peripheral vision is great and no annoying black bevel between screens. No regrets for me. It's not for everyone though.

  • Depends on what you want to do. For me the ultra-wide monitors

    Pro

    • One single input. Easier to manage as some laptops are not able to drive more than 1 external monitor.

    Con

    • Still just one monitor, i.e. less flexible. For those who can multi-task, dual monitors allow you to run independent full-screen apps on each of the screen. For example playing game on one screen, while the other showing your email inbox and real-time stock chart :)
