Hi. I've had my good old 560 Ti for a couple of years now and although still performs well in most games I think it's time to upgrade. With all the hype of the new r9 cards I've decided to jump ship and go amd. I was wondering if anyone had some input about the 280x and 270x and is the 280x really worth nearly double price. Also any good prices out there. Maybe in Sydney for pick up.
Graphics card upgrade time!

You realise that last gen and this gen are the same for the 270X (7870) and 280X (7970)?
is the 280x really worth nearly double price.
Depends on what you want. It certainly isn't twice the performance.
I want to future proof for at least another 2 years. The 560Ti i have has been great but the newer games are making it work a fair bit.
But the price difference vs the price is the question and where to buy as they have gone up in price recently :(. I am probably going to go to MSY tomorrow and have to fork out 400$ for a 280x or 250 for a 270x and i think i should make a firm decision before going in there as they're not very customer service orientated :PIts around 6ish months till next gen cards. Can you hold off till then? Current cards go down and new cards available give more power to the consumer.
Just food for thought.
Its around 6ish months till next gen cards.
Where are you getting this from? Current gen is still very new, I really doubt we will see anything that soon.
nVidia road map?

nVidia road map, take it as you will.
It also says around march from various sources so I'm giving a little more leway.
That article is from 2010.
That just indicates they plan to release something this year. It is also almost a year old.
Alright got a 270x sapphire vapor so far so good thanks for the comments :)
There's a $100 price difference between the two for cheapest Sydney pickup. Sorry can't help about the value- I'm a last gen AMD user.
