Sorry if this is in the incorrect section guys, but I needed some feedback from the great OzB community.
After being caught up in the $10 gaming disaster for only 2 games TGG were in the bad books with me, but I needed a new T.V and after calling them to find out why I didn't recive a $40 gift Card and then getting it, I felt like I had a good cause to put towards the "bonus" $40 they gave me.
After reading a post here from a user (can not find reference) about first finding an item cheaper than TGG, purchasing it, then returning to the store the next day to tell them about finding it cheaper elsewhere, ensuring it is available and local (advertised online or catalog) I decided to take a punt when I found this T.V a few $100 cheaper online, so…
I went today and purchased a 55" LED T.V from TGG @ $2490
This was after going to my 2 local stores who both didn't have readily available stock, the issue with this is that I could only put down a 20% deposit because they need to order stock in, so now when I go back (due to timing of public holidays on Thursday).
Will they do the 120% price guarantee and discount me an amazing amount..OR say the order was not finalized yet and just price match the competitor?
Anyone with experience in this, their response would be greatly appreciated as I have put a bit more money than my original budget allowed for in order to achieve this 120% price reduction outcome and save a few extra dollars. I am aware worst case scenario I just get a full refund and purchase from the competitor (about 20min away) but after reading about so many marvelous OzB schemes over the years of using the system to their advantage I thought I would give it a try (plus TGG have paywave for my ING ;) ).
Before anyone posts some hateful rant about me attempting to exploit the system, this was not my idea I read about it already in this community, after TGG stuffed me around by individual correspondence guaranteeing me my games from the sale only to randomly send a refund my way last week and no $40 gift card that without OzB I would of had no idea about, I am feeling a tad entitled to get one back on them.
Plus when I purchased the item earlier today the sales guy first tried to sell me an OLED $11 000 T.V than a UHD $40 000 T.V and knew nothing about them besides "COD looks awesome on these things" (IMO FPS games are for PC not console anyways)and not having a clue about any of the T.V's when I asked him about features and specs, (they must work on commission cause when I asked to talk to someone more knowledgeable on the product (politely I asked to speak to someone who specifically worked in the T.V department))) he was reluctant, then when I haggled him he gave me $6 of the ticket price AND if I wanted shipping it would cost a further $59, even though they recently had a $2 delivery promotion that "I just missed out on" and apparently this is already a bargain because even though it had a regular tag this is a "red ticket sale item" that was going for " over $2700". He did not notify me to enter the Disney land promotion, or make a claim for my free dona cover and blu-rays (that I come across on the websites promotion page by chance).
Sorry about my little rant on TGG, but basically I am still not sold one bit on them redeeming them selves after the gaming issues, I could go on about the particulars on how bull crap their explanation was including the famous "it was uploaded on OzBargain, which is like texting the deal to thousands of people, we just could not keep up, it was too much" reminds me of how good old Harvey called me a professional around this time last year for simply purchasing a single old model tablet…
Anyway, enough with that, feedback on my actual issue so I can hopefully have a viable plan of attack please :)
