Can anyone recommend some good PS3 games for a gift. The person love assasins creed but isn't keen on playing call of duty etc as they struggle with first person shooters so prefer to play them on PC.

It's excellent, best GTA by far. You never mentioned the age of the recipient, GTA V isn't suitable for younger teens.
Sorry he is 21 so no problems with age.
The Last of Us, though it's still a shooter. Just in third person. Also it's incidentally the best game I've ever played, and trust me, I've played Banjo Kazooie.
Uncharted 1, 2 and 3.
Infamous 1 & 2.
God Of War 3, God Of War Ascension, God Of War HD Collection.
(For me these are the best PS3 experiences going, everyone better the Assassins Creed games in terms of play and story though there is a new Assassins Creed Black Flag available)
Or best gift would be a 1 year PS Plus subscription.
