Best $1000 Laptop?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone could point me to a good deal for a Windows $1000ish Laptop. I'd prefer an ultrabook, but it's not that much of a necessity if a conventional laptop provides more performance.

Musts:

  • Reliable performance (with 8GB+ RAM)(Preferably Haswell i5/i7 Processor)
  • Good display
  • Decent battery

    This would be a good choice. $898 including windows, but no haswell

      any reason for the negs?

      The only thing wrong with it is no haswell, but you do get an 8 cell battery

    I guess it is hard to find a decent laptop with all conditions that you have supplied under $1000. You will have to sacrifice something, either it is going to be 4GB RAM instead of 8GB, or HDD instead of SDD, etc…

    you can get refurbished asus ultrabooks for cheap at wireless1. Actually I'm interested in one of them too.

      I'm using it primarily for business so I'd rather pay extra for a new one than a refurbished one. Reliability is paramount for me.

      If it was a personal laptop than of course being an OzBargainer I'd consider a refurbished one anyday!

    Check out computer alliance they have a huge sale on. I saw a i7 Haswell $1395 8bg ram 1tb hdd. Or they have i5 ultabook for $1295.
