Month long holiday during March?

Hi

I'm looking to go somewhere overseas for a month during March, and I'm not sure if I've left it too late to get flights. At the moment it seems that the US might be the cheapest.

I also vaguely remember that sometimes airlines have boxing day sales.

Anyone have any advice on cheap flights (preferably to places where I can go skiing) in March? and if anyone knows of any sales that are around or might go around (if there have been previous sales in previous years)?

Thanks in advance.

  • Since your post is a bit vague, price and the skiing experience for that price, will be relative to different people. It may not be the cheapest, but I'd suggest Switzerland, as you can still snag some early bird economy fares <$1,500.

    • I only wanted to go skiing for a few days, but the cheaper flights are the bigger priority. I don't want to go anywhere and pay a fortune on flights.

      • South Korea is a good option, and can be had for $850<. (I'm not sure if this is 'budget' to you though). Sapporo is another great option, and can generally be found at the $1,000 point.

There are ski resorts in China as well, with tickets about $750 return, but I haven't tried any Chinese resorts personally.

Scoot or Air Asia do fly to these destinations (or close by) and may be found cheaper.

Of course, you can always fly to these destination FROM Asia, via Peach, Spring Airlines, Air Asia, Scoot or Jetstar e.g. SYD-SIN on Scoot at a sale fare, then SIN-asian ski resort via budget airlines.

  • If you go to the US you can go skiing in Las Vegas (http://www.skilasvegas.com/winter/index.html) which might be convenient for you if you don't want to travel somewhere just for a few days skiing.

    • That looks quite convenient, but I hear Squaw Valley is awesome. Have you been before?

      • No, I haven't been snowboarding/skiing in USA before but was in Vegas in March and saw the snow and thought I should go there next time.
