I am looking to buy a upright duel fuel cooker ie gas stove and electric oven up to 60 cm width.
My budget is low $1,000.
Any reliable brand to buy ?
Any brand that I should not buy ?
Thanks.

The cheapest new option, which I'm doing myself, is the Ikea Lagan oven ($399) and lagan gas cooktop ($199).. which will be placed in the modular Fyndig 63cm cabinet ($55).. so, $653. (which is being installed into my ikea bench top.. I paid $40 from the 'as is' section)
You want a standalone all-in-one reliable appliance, so this doesn't really apply to you.
But maybe this option is of some interest to others who chance upon this thread.

This is probably your best bet but still a tad over your budget at $1197 http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Delonghi_60cm_Dual_F…
Just ask them over the phone if they would price match one you have seen for $998. I used this tactic with my TV. Worked fine but I may have been lucky as I was talking to the manager (TV was $1299, got it for $998 over phone).
Or price match it with this one http://www.whitegoodsonline.com.au/stoves/dual-fuel-stoves/d…
