  For PM's you already get an envelope next to the 'My Account' menu.

  Personally, this isn't a social network and if you are trying to manage it as such I think it exceeds the intentions of the OzB community.

  This is only my thoughts though.

  I think we might need to consolidation for notifications. Currently we have:

  • Email notifications (subscribe to comment, search, new deals, etc)
  • Private message notifications (for example your report got processed by a Mod)
  • Top-of-the-page messages (on your next page load, for example when you just got awarded a badge)

  It's just a matter of working out a consolidated framework that is suitable for both long and short messages.

    Have you considered introducing private message notifications sent to the registered email for the member. I've heard of this feature on other discussion sites.

      Go to your private message page, click on "Settings" and then change

      I want to receive e-mail notifications for new messages

      to "Every Message".

        Yes, I remember now that I did set that feature although it took me awhile to find it after I became a member.

        I'm trying to remember now whether the text of the message appears in the email or just a reminder to check the private message section. I'd like to be able to save messages like this to my own email rather than keep them in my account here.
