people really pay for this ?? You just clear your cookies if you get the "you have read 30 articles notice" or just browse SMH in a "Inprivate" IE session. work on PC and phone

was wondering the same thing… do people really pay for movies?

      • Nah. Only for porn.

If your using an adblocker, you can also get rid of notice by adding this filter: ||fairfax.com.au^

    • I thought you'd mention how much of a trashcan rag SMH has become. Even if the only cost is my time I refuse to visit the site.

    • I pay for the Android app access($17.99), as I read on my tablet (wifi only), while on the train going into work.

Getting all digital access is a saving, and I can switch back to Android app access after the 3 months.

I think I am paying for opinions rather that investigative journalism, but it is probably the best mix of "news", and I'm not really into AFR or The Australian.

  • What's the price ?

  • Website access smh.com.au access $45 regular rate $22.50

    cheaper just to buy tickets…

    • $22.50/4 = $5.63

Besides the reading cinemas deal on sunday I don't think tickets can be that cheap…

      • Where did you get 4 from?

        The offer states :

Plus you'll receive a free double pass to Hoyts Cinemas

        • The title says "2 Free Double Pass" I took it as 2 x Double passes resulting 4 movie tickets stubs in total. But SMH website said "a" as you have quoted.

Also how do you get notifications of replies? Instead of looking manually?

          Cheers

Wouldn't be tempted if it was 110%.

  • only for SMH and not the Age?

  • Be careful with the age subscriptions department.
Last deal i specifically told them to cancel as soon as the 3 months finished but of course they just directly debited me on full price.
A lot of people wouldnt notice or be bothered chasing it up but after numerous emails they finally fixed it up.
Easier now just to get credit card replaced every so often so the sneaky renewals fail.

    As for the age itself
Digital - who reads more than 30 articles per browser refresh anyway?
Sadly with the gina rhinehart driven cost cutting most of the knowledgable journalists who gave real insight and added value to stories have been replaced by cheap uni grads.
Basically rewritten reuters / aap stuff and silly relationship / feninism blogs just above herald sun quality.
I do like to support them as a murdoch counterbalance but the only useful part thesedays seems to be the crossword page.

  • FREE here forever through public libraries along with every other paper. Downside is its only daily.

    • The Age is georestricted from Australia with Press Display:

As per publisher request The Age is not available for viewing in your area.

SMH, Herald Sun etc. all work though. Not sure what the deal is.

      Doesnt show up.

    • Links don't work… also how do you calculate the 26 weeks for $79 to be saving of $324 off the newsstand price, while the 52 weeks for $120 only saving of $108???

  • just called my local newsagent, student/teacher/tertiary offers no longer available in 2014 :(
