DSE gift card problem :( What should I do? Please help!

Well here's what happened. I placed two DSE gift card orders on the 28th of Nov just a few minutes apart. One was for 2 $550 gift cards and the other for a single $550 gift card. I received a parcel around a week later but after the driver had left found out that it only had one $550 gift card in there. Then I logged into my DSE account to check the tracking information provided and found out that the tracking number is the same for both orders. I rang their useless 1300 overseas call centre straight away only to be told that they would get back to me the next day. Well they didn't and I rang them again only to be given the same old garbage. Again no follow-up call and not even a reply to any of the emails. So after getting sick of all the run around thought that it would be best to open up a Paypal dispute to try and get the money back. I provided all the information in detail including the order numbers and the card number received and what not but today I get an email from Paypal saying that they can't really do any thing about it. The only thing DSE provided was a single tracking number and according to Paypal that's enough to decide the matter in their favour.

What are my options? What can I do from here?

Ask them to cancel all 3 gift cards in their system and get a refund, then repurchase? If they don't respond, Dept of Fair Trading would be first port of call.

    • Thanks :)

I know these were online purchases but have you also tried going into a DS store and asking the manager there what the best course of action is, if you do it politely (and try not to choose a really busy time of day) I'm sure they would at least try to help you out. Otherwise hitting up their social media sites with your story might attract enough attention to get a quick response.

The Facebook page for DSE seems to get some prompt action with problems.
The lady that runs it sorted out a phone purchase & pickup for me with little fuss.
From reading their page you are not alone with delivery screw ups, especially gift cards and also getting no service from their overseas CSA's.

Random Ninja's suggestion seems the best option.

Off topic … but may be of interest to some…
I saw something interesting about gift cards recently… apparently if you have a gift card and the issuing business goes into receivership your card immediately becomes void and you join the list of unsecured creditors. Along with their "expiry date" con this places gift cards into the things to avoid basket for me.
Want to give me a present… give me good old cash :-) & don't bother wrapping it.

If you paid by credit card and you are sick to deal with DSE you can request from your bank to reverse the transaction, I did it once and got my money really quickly

Thanks for the advice guys much appreciated :) DSE sent me a couple of e-Gift Cards yesterday so all good now. If you have any issues with a DSE order DO NOT call their 1300 number. It's just a complete waste of time. All that will happen is some overseas call centre person will BS about how they will call back and that will be the end of it. Absolutely pathetic. Contact their Head Office on (02) 9642 9100 and let them know that it's an urgent matter and that would be your best chance.
