Got an email that says: pre-order available Tue 10/12

This month the price is again lowered to 149.00.

The months before it came down to 159.00 and 169.00 respectively.

A good price for a 3TB (Seagate ST3000DM001) with ARM 'plug computer' base. Bare drive at staticice is 128.00, so you are getting the plug PC base for $20. (Do not confuse it with the USB3 drives).

After some modification, this device gives me 30MB/s sustained data rate over GB ethernet and above 10MB/s over wifi.

A USB drive can also be added to this device. So the device can effectively be expanded in future to an 8TB (= 4TB SATA + 4TB USB) NAS device - pretty decent upgrade-ability potential for home environment.

    I'm having it connected to my router. Using Win8 on one of my computers. Works fine. But I have ArchLinux running on the plug base.
