Peers, I wish to purchase my wife a smartphone for Xmas, I am tossing up between the above mentioned models.
I will most likely purchase from Kogan, as his prices are too good to ignore, however I am unsure of what to buy.
- Note 3N9005 $619.00 (Samsung $899.00);
- Zoom Quadband 3G $389.00 (Samsung $650.00);
- Note 2 N7105 $469.00 (samsung $699.00).
Plus $22.00 delivery fee (I wish there was a free delivery offer!).
Do they all come with the Navigon Australia maps preloaded, or do they have to be separately purchased, therefore an additional cost, is the Zoom being quad band 3G and not 4G a deal breaker ( I am sure the Aus. version is 4G). Her mobile service provider is Liveconnected but this may change at any time.
I am sure I will need to take my wife to see them all at my local Samsung shop (Highpoint), but would like to get opinions from those who have bought any of these phones, and in particular the ones from Kogan.
Cheers!
All Samsung Galaxy smartphones come with Navigon preloaded. You just fire up the "Samsung Apps" application and it will ask you to download or update some apps — Navigon is always available for free to download via this method.
The Note 3 is Samsung's flagship phablet device with a large touchscreen and high precision stylus.
Note 2 is the previous generation model, still very comparable to the Note 3 but at a much lower price.
You can compare the 2 devices here:

For the Zoom, it's not worth getting unless your wife is an absolute shutterbug and loves to take pictures, and utilizes the 10x optical zoom. It can be best described as a camera with a smartphone attached to it. The phone is VERY bulky in the pocket due to the zoom lens and it also sacrifices some performance and screen clarity for the enhanced camera sensor and lens assembly.
So while it does great for photos and videos, it suffers at portability and performance. The battery is also smaller than the Note 2 and 3.
