Nespresso pods

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me where I can buy some really cheap, strong and smooth espresso capsules?

I recently bought a nespresso machine and found I really like the purple capsules (admittedly I have to use 2 capsules for the right flavour)

I was wondering where I can buy some in bulk for cheap?

Also can someone recommend me a good capsule holder?

Thanks

  • I brought my spiral capsule holder at aldi for $14-$15 about 2 weeks ago, not to sure if they still have any left though. Aswell i remember last month seeing costco sell capsules, compatible with the nespresso machines. Didnt get the chance to try it out, but I'm assuming it would be in bulk & cheap. Sorry for the vague info OP.

  • Im planning to go to costco this week, so will let you know if the capsules are any good in taste & value =)

    • That would be great! I want something really strong and smooth (I hate that acidic taste you get from some blends)

  • +2

nespresso stores are currently running a special at the moment:

buy 11 sleeves, get one free.
buy 15 sleeves, get two free.

not sure how long its going to last and personally, never really seen them on sale.

    • What are "sleeves"?

      Edit:
Nvm I just found out its a pack of 10 capsules

  • These might be worth a try

Genovese is a Melbourne based coffee roaster. The freshness is probably alot better than nespresso, imported. Also cheaper per capsule. Worth trying a box, or they may sample taste in store for you?

  • I'm loving the coles brand Ethopian blend nespresso compatible pods at $4 for 10.

  • Just a heads up with the "compatible" brands out there. My folks were buying them as it was easier to buy from Woolworth than online from them. However, they noticed that the coffee started to taste burnt and bitter. I tried everything for them, descaled the machine, gave it a good clean, but a week later it was back. Called the manufacturer of the "compatible" coffee and the down to earth consultant pretty much confessed that they are not truly compatible and they have lots of complaints about burnt and bitter taste as the coffee getting burnt as it pours due to packing and size of the coffee granules in the pods. He was nice enough to send through a refund voucher for the rest of the coffee we couldn't drink.

Also, just to add to it, our neighbours had to pretty much throw out their last Nespresso machine as the "compatible" pods caused so much damage to their machine. The outflow pipe was blocked by large granules of coffees that escaped the weak foil mesh. The pod piercing arm snapped as the pod material was too thick to pierce. I could go on. But moral of the story, I have seen first hand two bad experiences from "compatible" pods. I'm sticking to Nespresso for now. Not worth breaking my $300 machine to save 20c a coffee.
