Logitech Harmony Touch $149 Shipped from Logitechshop eBay Store

70

Logitechshop has just posted this one on their Facebook page. Dick Smiths has it on special now for $179 and I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else. You could get this and a smart control for about the same price as ultimate and have an additional remote but one less IR blaster.

I won't argue the merits between the different versions but if this has been on your wishlist then it's probably the best price in the lead-up to Christmas.

    • Yeah, I saw that and I know there's no hard number buttons but I don't use them. I use Jailbroken ATV2s so ok, menu, left and right is all I need really. I only use play/pause in time shift, which is rare.

Definitely a consideration for those who use it lots though.

  • agreed, putting the transport buttons up top is weird, but i suppose some people hold the remote on the sides with palm and fingers over buttons, but i cradle the remote in my palm and use thumb to press buttons

  • Very true, that said still a good deal, for those who want one. Ive had many of the past years and find the logitech One, the best unit IMO, the 525 was also a great unit but ate batteries.

    • the 525 only eats cheap batteries. still love mine

Yeah, I like my 700 still and my 650 has a cracked screen but I was playing with a Harmony One the other day and really liked it, so just want another gadget. I reckon regardless of the remote you'll just learn it as muscle memory, just like you would when you holiday.

      • Yeah, the 700 is hard to go past. Particularly for my MCE use

Hoping there's a Harmony One sale soon

    • Harmony One sale… Wouldn't that be nice. Not sure it is available anymore though (From reasonable priced sites)

We use a Harmony One for our home theatre, and have gone through two over last five years I think.

They did have them (Harmony one) on clearance about a year ago, for under $100 from memory ( http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76850 for $74.50), wish I had picked up a couple of spares back then. Even better would be the Harmony 900, as it has everything that the harmony one has, with the extra buttons for BluRay (Coloured chapter buttons etc).

I prefer a remote that has the buttons and number keys myself. Having everything on a touch screen means I would have to be looking at the remote to see where to press on the screen. With the harmony one, you can feel the keys, so use them without needing to be concentrating on your remote.

The DSE staff hoarded all the stock.

    • I picked one up from the Logitech shop for $100 a while ago. I guess I was lucky.

    Picked one up.
Been looking for one the last couple of months, thanks OP and LogitechShop!

Best you'll find anywhere is about $165

  • So is this infrared only?

    • Yes. I love mine, but even more now that I've picked up the Harmony Smart Control/Hub.

If you were on the fence about getting the Harmony Ultimate or not, it's very much worth the upgrade.

      • So did you buy the Hub by itself, thus turning your Touch remote into the same as the 'Harmony Ultimate'?

If so, where did you buy it from?

On using OW to get 5 percent off this price.

    Good luck with that.

On two occassions I have called for the 5 percent match (This item is available online only with OW, and to get the guarantee you need to call their 1300 number), during this, the online assistant checking their product with the one on offer from Logitech Shop, the first lady told me that they do not match the Logitech shop as they are an Ebay shop, then the second time I called through and provided the direct link to www.logitechshop.com.au for the item, they had me wait about fifteen minutes while they checked that it was the same item that they sell.

On returning to me, the lady (Called herself Chantelle)stated that they have checked with the company website for LogitechShop and that they are selling grey imports with no Logitech manufacturer warranty. They do not match sales where there is no manufacturer warranty.

Got into a longer chat about the returns process is with the approval of Logitech international before you can send it back to them. But Chantelle stuck with the line that the Logitech shop do not sell any items with a Logitech warranty.

I then called Logitech international customer help, spoke with a gentleman, who advised that Logitech Shop are an authorised reseller and all items come with full Logitech support as does anything sold through Officeworks.

For the effort, it may not be worth trying Officeworks re Logitech Shop price match, appears they have the company marked as a grey importer.

    • They don't want to lose their profit margin that's all.
Don't think I've seen lower prices than LTS.

Whilst price matching is a great idea for customers in theory, the policies are there to make it hard as hell to qualify :(

      • don't agree here, 4/5 times i get a PM when i ask, they check stock with a phone call and it's usually approved, in other words they don't go looking for loopholes/excuses to invalidate PM, my tip is to go into another OW store where possible

I was talking about their online only items in my orginal post here. Where I was speaking with their calls centre, not an actual store (In fact I am not sure if their online call centre is even an Australian based one).
I have always been successful with a price match in an actual bricks and mortar OW store, but this was an item that OW show as online only, so I ended up dealing with a lady at that online centre.
