  Bought something similar to the aluminium version on Banggood.

  it leaked after a couple of weeks. had a terrible burning plastic smell.
  toxic.

    these probably use the cheapest 18650 cells - the QC / rate of failure is probably pretty poor.

    then again you could have caused the failure too by having it too hot (aluminium casing is good when the outside is colder than inside, but if you leave it in the sun the opposite could be happening)

    If you want better quality, you could just buy the shell of these for around $2.50 on ebay then buy genuine sanyo/panasonic cells to put in them. Genuine battery are around $5 ea
