Recommendations on a hosting company

Hi guys, I'm after some recommendations for a reliable and cheap hosting company based in Australia with good service.
My clients are mostly small to medium sized businesses with Wordpress sites.

    Why does it need to be an Australian host? No doubt there are good ones out there but is international lag such a big deal anymore?

      Okay, if international lag isn't such a big deal then, world wide is fine.

    International lag can be a big deal… There's a lot of info on how speed can impact a website: http://blog.kissmetrics.com/loading-time/

    A quick quote from KISSmetrics: "40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load"

      That's what I've always assumed myself. I'll often abandon a site if it takes more than 5 secs myself unless I really need to see it.

      I'm considering VentrIP, they are a few dollars dearer than Servers in Seconds though.

        I'm a bit biased because I've started a small web hosting business but I can recommend VentraIP, I've got a reseller account with them and so far I haven't had any issues. They have a 24hr turnover time on helpdesk support though which doesn't work for everyone.

    You should be fine with Amazon EC2
