  • Wouldn't be suprised if it's imported from China. Last time I was at coles looking for frozen prawns, the two different brands they had on offer were made in China and Thailand!

Frozen prawns are almost always from thailand, vietnam and china. There is no way it could be anywhere near the price we buy them for if they had to be peeled, cleaned and packed in Australia.

exactly! the duopoly monsters are really not that aussie friendly as many would like to think they are. Most if not all of the supermarket seafood are imported.

Can't say if it was this brand but i thought i would give it a go a while back -suffice to say am sticking with fresh from now on. (if you want to try it… just grab one pack before stocking up :)

  • I thought I saw on the pkt 'NZ', they do a good salmon and this is a good price. Thanks OP

  • Frozen salmon? Where it comes from does not taste good.

  • I'm still eating the last lot I got and it's just fine. Comes indiv sealed, just poke the seal a bit and nuke for 1 min ea piece.

I used to buy this brand along with other brands until I discovered that this 'food' is intensively farmed and fed synthetic Astaxanthin (petroleum based to make its flesh pink), and swim in close proximity to fecal matter from other fish. As these farms are usually contained within wild waters, they are often responsible for spreading parasites to wild fish. These practices apply to farmed fisheries in Australia, New Zealand, and even Norway.

    • I've been looking into where to buy good salmon - any suggestions? Even the seafood stores at markets admit their salmon is "semi-farmed".

      • Really hard to find unfortunately. Your best option is Alaskan salmon which is wild but it can only be found canned in Australia. If you live near a fish market you might have more luck finding more wild alternatives.

Yes, very very hard to get 'wild' fish, or any animal food now that's not doing great harm to the animals, land sea, and or us. That's the big picture.

  • good price. i cleaned out my local coles earlier today.

says "product of nz" on the packaging.
