Opinions on W450 as budget smartphone

Looking to replace my daughter's Ascend y201.
Saw the W450 and the 1GB RAM and quad core is appealing, as is the $100 price point.
Screen is a little low res, and onboard storage is only 4GB, but I don't know any better specced phones at this price. Anybody else?

  • This is an obscure model. No idea of whether this phone has Google Play or is a Chinese-only version.

You might want to try a THL brand instead, or a Lenovo phone.

See some discussions on THL on WP

    • I believe this is a new model. Geekbuying reports it has play store and the screenshots and demo video on youtube show it in English:

I like the THL and Lenovo models, but they are $30-$40 more expensive

      • There's no review on the phone itself, so buy at your own risk. Sometimes, it's worth paying a little more.

  • im not sure but i bought one yesterday from geekbuying for $96.10 aud. just select aud in the currency options.
with an antutu score of 17000 for $96 it sounds too good to be true (it seems on par/better than many new/ish phones that sell for 4 times the price) and if not they are selling on ebay for much more so i can always offload it. the only let down is the resolution of the screen (which i think will still be very adequate) and 4gb rom. but for $96.10 you can't expect the world.

  • Well, like frondono, I think the bang per buck looks pretty good. I've ordered for $96AUD.

  • The daughter has been using this since Xmas and it has been a big hit. Performance is very good, screen resolution is real-world good.
    Very pleased with the price/performance.
The only mild downside is when people ask her what sort of phone she got she says a "no name". everybody is amused it doesn't have even a chinglish brand name.
