Amazon is having massive discount on some products as part of the Black Friday deals. (Even though this would be an unnecessary intro on Ozbargain since ain't we all waiting all year for this to happen?)

Ok as title said the total price is about USD $119.77 which is about $131 AUD depending on conversion rate. This price is incredibly cheap!

I got one 240Gb same model ordered from the previous deal ($149.99) but could not resist so I have to buy another one.

FYI, if you add some small items, such as memory card, to the order you can get free combine shipping of the small items.

Enjoy Ozbargainers!

  • I'm tempted to buy this just because it's so cheap, but I'm not sure where to put it now, since everything already has an SSD in it.. Probably would be saving it for a future machine.

It's cheaper than anything you can buy locally for 180GB, and this is one of the most expensive brands if not the most.

    • Hey lostn what about an external hard drive for an idea? I know there are adaptors/converters available for such use

      • There are, but a USB3 one is expensive and probably won't be that fast.

Amazing price. Damn amazon, you have me going broke.

    • how do you change amazon to aud?

      • would like to know this aswell.

        • I used my Australian HSBC debit visa card

  • Tempted but really need a 240, wish I hadn't missed that deal!

The 840 EVO 250 has been dropped to 149.99 if you're interested in that http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-2-5-Inch-Internal-…

      • Thanks I'll check it out.

      • looks good, but 149.99 usd is about 164.64 aud, and plus the delivery, it is almost the same as msy 182 aud

        • YEah noticed that :(

        • Yeah, depending on your credit card, it comes to around 175 AUD, which I guess is still $7 saved :p It helps that I'm ordering a few other things from Amazon because I'll also save on delivery.

  • finally got in before they changed the price. Missed two of the last deals.

    Goddamit. Im bleeding money now.
edit: and cant see switch currency for life of me during checkout.

  • Must resist…

    • You know you can't haaha. Sorry for the pain but once it's gone, it's GONE!

  • have people had issues buying ssd's online? return policy?

    • +6

      Pray.

  • Why should one get an Intel 530 drive over a Samsung 840 Pro?

I know it's not all about the transfer speeds (hence my question), but the 840 Pro gets 150MBps+ faster write speeds.

Trying to choose between grabbing a 530 drive or seeing if the 840 Pro goes on sale.

    • Because it's slightly cheaper than Pro and reliable as Samsung SSD?

  • Aha, as I was checking out, it went out of stock.

  • Sold out

  • How does this compare to the samsung Evo ssd?

  • 240GB is 159, which is still not bad consider this is still MLC register technology vs TLC technology.

Samsung TLC may have a good controller, but its TLC wont last as long in theory vs MLC.

We need to learn that fact that, when all the way back, intel and many expensive SSDs are SLC, which is way way better than MLC, and MLC is way better than TCL!!!!

However, my first SSD is a 840 and after 10 months, it continue to perform on my notebook :)

  • Great deal, but I wish DDR3 ram went on special every now and again. :-(

    • We don't need any more than 8gb for every day usage like games and even family photo / video graphics processing.

Any one with 16gb or more will allow one to run a RAM disk

Very few tasks with exception if vm require more than 16gb of ram.

We can basically load the whole os on a ram drive for VM once we got more than 12gb.

  • I have bought one. Now, what else do I need to install it in my old 2008 Asus laptop?

    • A copy of windows 8 or 8.1
Remove your optical disc drive if needed, and out the original hard drive in it. :)

That's what I did with two of my own notebooks.

  • price now $131?

    • Yeah as someone mentioned above, the priced changed. Sorta like expired i guess.

      • +1

Back to $109.99, at least for me. This is just a normal Amazon.com price fluctuation. :)

  • If anyone in Canberra wants the 240G version of this for A$170 I ordered a spare from the last deal that should turn up this week sometime. Message me.

this deal is still on- just bought one

  • i had an nexus 7 2013 still in my amazon cart. price for that has dropped to $199

  • It's still saying the 180gb is in stock but when you click to add to cart it notifies you that it's no longer available. The 240gb has 2 left in stock but when I tried to purchase one kit it told me it doesn't ship to my address (in Sydney CBD)…

    • It told me it was in stock (with no limited amount left for the 180 GB) but when I clicked through and added it to the cart to check out it told me with a caution sign that it was out of stock.

Now it's showing 'in stock' and allowing me to select an address to checkout but now the amazon reseller doesn't ship to my address in AU (city not regional so probably won't ship at all to AUS)

  • +3

Hey people just because it's temporarily out of stock doesn't stop you ordering it. On the product page on the right hand side of the screen under More buying choices there's Amazon.com $109.99 with an add to cart button. You can backorder it and they'll ship when they get more back in stock.

  • A good alternative is a 250 GB Samsung Evo drive for $150 (Amazon ships it to Australia):

    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-2-5-Inch-Internal-…

There is also the Evo Pro for 30% more, but I doubt it is worth the extra dollars.

  • My 120GB has been giving me intermittent blue screens on startup so I was due for an upgrade. Thanks, OP!

  • showing in stock and US 132.8 now

    • Yeah it appears that Amazon.com has been dropped out of the list of sellers. It's all over folks.

  • Has anyone received their SSD yet?
