The funny thing is I saw these BBQs yesterday at Woolworths and thought they were anything but a big boy bbq. They are more like a l33t g33k bbq…

    • Maybe to the poms it is a Big boy but us Aussies have bigger meat…

These look like a MARGINAL improvement over the very cheap portable charcoal BBQ that seems to be stocked by Kmart/Target etc - think it seels around $20?

Strikes me it'd be borderline disposable - in so much as within a yr or so it'd be unusable/rusting mess.

I'd strongly recommend prospective buyers stump up the extra $50 or so and get a Weber Smokey Joe, comparable size but sensational quality that will last umpteen more yrs plus save man hours cleanup hassles. :-)

If you want a small charcoal bbq get a Weber Go Anywhere, I picked mine up for $50 second hand

I have the bigger version of this (Tall Boy, I think), got it free with my Samsung TV about a year ago (yeah, wierd , I know) and it is surprisingly good. The main body is stainless steel so no rust issues. The only slight issue is that the grill is not recessed enough below the lip of the main body so if you are rolling sausages they can fall off if you are not careful. Not sure if this smaller version will have the same issue but I suspect it would.

I reckon this is decent value for $30 and charcoal cooked meat is way tastier than using a gas BBQ.
