Was looking for a "cheap" Ipod for the kids and came across this 5th Gen ipod touch 16gb for $177. Picked one up in store today.
Did a search of postcodes and most stores, that I checked, seemed to have stock available. Backorder available online with free shipping (for my Melb postcode anyway).
Currently $249 on the Apple store.
Has tgg deal expired? It's back to $249.
A great deal, the only thing that ruins it is the A5 chipset. If this thing had a A6 or above, it would be an incredible little smart device that would probably be the best bedside alarm clock there is.
It would be kind of silly for apple to put better hardware than the ipad mini in this, then sell it around half the price.. In a way all this ipod is a shrunken down ipad mini.
It is just an iPhone 4 without calling capability I think.
Actually more like a hybrid of an iphone 4s with an iphone 5 screen. But shares the same hardware of the ipad mini and 4s in the a5 chip. :)
An Iphone 4 uses an a4 chip, so actually a gen behind and slower.

Buy them a cricket set and get them off the couch…
Get them a tab instead.. Aldi's 8" tab at $129 (4 Dec catalogue) or refurb nexus 7 for the same price will save u abt $50 plus give them a bigger screen better for playing games, watching movies and doing their homework.
I wouldn't recommend the aldi tab, its horrible. A nexus 7 is a good alternative to the ipod.
They dropped the price because tgg were selling them for $178. The Goodguys deal was better though because it came with a 2 gb ipod shuffle as well.
