So I'm wondering what is the cheapest doesn't have to be the best, Mac laptop to buy my son for Xmas? I dnt want to have to spend $1000s just a basic 1 he is going into high school nxt yr so it does need to be reliable. When own a netbook (accer) and a PC but this will be our 1st Mac besides the iPads so I'm not real sure about them as I'm only used to windows. Any good deals around?

I would say the basic macbook air is your best option.
You could look for an older model from megabuy but the latest model has such good battery life I would go for that. Wait for a 10% off sale though.MBA 2013 11", $928:
