Only one SMS, its sounds like its improved. When I sold my car last year I was hit with dozens of these. And I got a bunch of new ones everytime I made a modification to the add.

Just ignore them, its really easy to work out the genuine from the fakes. A genuine buyer would never SMS you and ask for an email response… or ask for paypal or shipping to offshore rigs etc… etc…

    • I had one idiot sending me messages asking if the item I listed was still available and what the price was.

The item I listed was FREE.

A buyer that is serious will always call you. Always exchange the money face to face as well.

lol I always txt and email because I offer such lowball offers I don't wanna get abused on the phone :P

      • what's your phone no? see if i can abuse you……:-)

If you are talking to them on the phone, or especially in person you are much more likely to get the lowball price you asked for.

I actually prefer text/email to calling (whether Im buying or selling) as I have written proof of whats going on- good for negotiations too, doesnt mean Im not serious.

  • If they are asking for more info via email, it might mean there isn't enough info in the ad, so I would just reply with 'check the ad' and if they ask for more info, update the ad. Alternaitttively just use the email links via gumtree. Some are obviously scams, but others might just have poor writing skills.

    • In my experience, most real buyers will mention the item in a little more detail, IE just not "car" or "ad". Most scam SMS I have received just refers to my "ad" vaguely.

  • The scammers and tyre kickers are easy to spot. They ask you questions that are already in your ad.

You googled the email? They can change the email. This is not new and you have to be very gullible to let them scam you.

I live for the day scammers get their days in court; get named and shamed. Nothing is impossible; about time they were weeded out and locked away.

    • Won't happen. Government doesn't care about the little people.

time to use this email for all our freebies!
    spam them away

  • I have often got a email from reverend Michael who forgot his name and signedoff as peter.

  • I just got a text from a Michelle Tony, the funny thing is that he/she put in the 1sst line of the text "Sent from: +61413070205" but the number that this person sent the message is a well know scam number (0428465117, and the email [email protected])
    Be aware!
