Hey
Anyone have this monitor

Is it any good?

It is a TN panel, so the colors will not look as good as an iMac IPS panel.

It is also only 1920 x 1080 resolution, the iMac 27' is 2560x1600.

This Asus panel, while only 1920x1080, is at least IPS, so it will have the same color reproduction:

if you want a real mac equivelent monitor, you need to start looking into 2560x1440 resolution 27" monitors, which are around the $5 - 600 mark.

  • Basically what snowblindnz said… if you want an equivalent monitor to imac, you will have to get an IPS or prepares a good VA panel?

if you are gonna go with snowblindnz suggestion of a 27" 1440 monitor, wait for Dell to bring the u2713h sale again. Heard good things about it and the last sale was roughly $664 for a professional calibrated monitor. There are some "issues" with it apparently… green tint etc. but it is definitely a good monitor from what i have read.

Looking to buy one for myself, just gotta wait til the sale is back… or unless someone here is willing to sell theirs lol

  • Ok thanks guys

How is this Samsung Monitor in general not comparing it to a iMac

Is it good for gaming? My PC build specs will be -

    Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 1
    CPU: i5 4570
GPU: Powercolor 7950 or Palit 760 or 4GB GPU
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001
    SSD: SanDisk Ultra Plus 128GB
    RAM: G.Skill Ares F3-1866C9D-8GAB 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H
OD: Pioneer DVR-220LBKS Black 24x DVDRW OEM
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 520W HCG-520

    • Gaming is completely different scenario, you can't really game with ultra settings in 1440p anyway unless you want to spend $700 on a grpahics card lol, the 7950 will struggle considering an OC'd 280x can't obtain 40fps @ 1440p in ultra for Battlefield 4.

A 27 inch is fine for that build, 1080p is GREAT for gaming.

I purchased the msi hd7970 twin frozr iii for $299, the 7950 is good but if you can find a good deal on a 7970 go for it instead.

IPS is better than a TN panel and are usually $80 more expensive, but you can go for this one to save cash:

Cheapest 27" TN panel is around $250.

  • Stupid question but whats the difference between TN & IPS?
