This is interesting.
I bought a Nexus 5 phone from Google Play on Nov 3. Ordered it from the Play Aus website, paid for it in AUS $. Charge included a shipping fee.
Phone arrived a week later.
Today, my CC statement arrives. Phone charge is there, fine, but there is an additional $14.07 fee for an Overseas Transaction Charge — in spite of the fact that I ordered the handset from an apparently Aus website and paid for it in Aus currency.
Google's own website (here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2850375?hl=en&r…) states:
Google Play does not charge any additional fees on top of the prices (including tax/shipping if applicable) displayed on the confirmation screen before completing your purchase. You can confirm the exact amount you were charged by signing into Google Wallet and viewing the order.
Please be aware that your credit/debit card company may add additional fees that are not reflected in the approximate price displayed. Any orders placed could be subject to cross-border or exchange fees by your card issuer, and Google Play cannot reimburse for any fees assessed by your card-issuing bank.
Anyone else get this charge?
The phone is very good value, but I feel like I have been ripped off.
Overseas is not the same as Australian dollars.
