Vodafone, end of contract, what to do/who to join in Falcon, WA

Hi all,

I've read through the other posts but didn't quite see my circumstances…

My 24 month contract ends in Dec. I had the SGS2 for $0 on the $29 plan + $4 extra for 700mb more data. It's worked out okay- tho I'd like more data, if possible.

In Falcon, Voda coverage (if you can call it that) is sketchy. I assume only Telstra would be great- but I despise them.

So, I have the S2 (which I believe will be mine at the end if I don't stay with Voda, right?) & I also got that 526G from the deal at DSE a week or so ago- & both are now unlocked.

Knowing all of this- are there any locals or those with experience who can recommend a best case scenario (that doesn't involve moving house- lol).

Lastly, if I decide to leave Voda- do I do this on the day of expiration of the last contract- or the day prior?

Thanks so much for any help!

:)

  • Vodaphone coverage is crap. We live in the hills only a few kms. away from all the mobile towers in Kalamunda. Every time we speak to them to complain re drop outs we are told " New system is being installed very shortly to stop this situation" However, they've been saying the same for 2 years now & still we have to stand outside or in the middle of the road to get a decent signal to ensure that you're not speaking to yourself half way through a conversation!!
Next time I think it will be back to Telstra - although I agree with your views on them.
Also I believe there is a way of breaking your contract with Vodaphone - if you can prove they are not giving the service promised in ways of coverage. Read it somewhere on Google - give it a go.
As far as I know you always keep the phones @ the end of the contract as the price has been built in to your monthly fees ( we've now got heaps!)The latest being Iphone 5's - not a lot better than the 4's or 3's.
Just pleased we still have our landline which always works.
With regard to finishing the contract - contact them with your concerns prior to the end date & see what they offer - but you'll probably get the same as stated above "New system is being installed very shortly to stop this situation"
Good Luck & let us know the outcome

I help poor people with computers (pensioners & low-income). I cannot begin to tell you the horror stories…I have Internode for my internet- & have been considering them for mobile- but also have no clue as to their performance in my area.

What gives me the sh*ts is that 5 mins away, they already laid out NBN fiber…& now Mr. Abbott has decided to give his copper mine buddies a deal instead of continuing the fiber. I mean, has to be this- otherwise what idiot would go backwards technologically by two decades? Everyone knows that the copper needs replacing & will cost as much as the fiber in the end- AND will give far less performance. But- it won't impede Abbott- he still uses an abacus, I'd imagine- & if not, can easily afford the very high-speed internet as it suits him?

Ok- I digressed a bit- lol.

I don't need to break contract- I only have a month left- but thanks for that info!

All I want is to retain my mobile number…I hope that's easy enough?

      Thank you,

      :)

  • At Optus we're proud of our mobile and wireless network coverage, that's why in the unlikely event you are not satisfied with our coverage you can cancel.
Mobile Phone: Contact us on 1300 667 475 within 30 days to cancel without paying any cancellation fees

Vaya utilises the Optus mobile network. Wherever there is Optus coverage, Vaya will have coverage. To make sure that you will have coverage in your area, you are able to check the Coverage Maps

You could try Optus and if you're happy, join up with Vaya, First month is free on their power plans.

    • Have you used Vaya? Are they good?

      :)

      • I'm with LiveConnected which is now owned by Vaya and I'm happy with it for over a year now.

      • I am with them!
Price is right but …. they are by far the worst telco I have delt with and I have been with most. I am used to shity customer service but these guys take the piss…. will hang up 2 out of 3 calls (from my 20 calls so far sample)and will ask your details then put you back on hold for 5 min then ask what you want (this has happend 4 times) most tell you different things. They charge hidious amounts when you go over limits. And have to log on to thier website to see usage which is 48 hrs old. If you are organised and dont need to contact them they are ok…… if not I would stay well away.

  • This GS2 isn't 4G I take it?

VODAFONE is MUCH better in 4G coverage. I take it they won't have 4G there anytime soon?

Is there 4G on Telstra or Optus?

  • Roughly In the same boat as OP. Vodafone refused to extend the offer I had with them so I'm switching. I despise Telstra so no go for me without though their coverage is best according to people. But I live in Sydney CBD so coverage won't be an issue much. Primarily looking for good affordable deals with plenty data.

Thinking of live connected or aldi at this time

  • I'm in the same boat, SG2 contract ending in Dec. I called Vodafone this afternoon and they said I can renew my contract same conditions for the SG3.

$30 plan, 1GB extra data, -$5 discount. So pay $25 for $200 calls, 1.2 GB and get the SG3 included free.

Is this a good deal? But the SG3 is pretty old now.

I was hoping to get off contract and go to LiveConnected $11, but they've increased their plans now its $20.

    • Hi GrTea-

      Okay- I'm an "old-schooler".

I have the SG2 & the new 526 from the DSE deal. Both are now unlocked. Me being me, I really despise tossing anything that works.

What I want is a good deal that isn't a contract, I guess.

      Anyone?

      Really grateful.

Thanks so much for your time!

      Me :)

      • Aldi Mobile is on the Telstra 3G network, fine for your phones. Either PAYG or $35 unlimited.

Using optus network, Vaya $18 or LiveConnected $20 for $650 in calls and 1.5GB.

I can't any better no contract deals.

        • I don't see "unlimited"— do you mean the ALDImobile $35 plan?

        • Yeah, they changed the plans recently. As with all other providers, you get less for the same money now.

    • if possible…can u plz PM ur number…i would like to get vodafone to match with ur plan and they r asking for ur number to verify
