    Price in title please.

  • price in title EDIT - everyone is on the ball today

  • how many fish does it hold? 2 or 3?
only for cold/gold fish or can you have tropical fish as well?

    • +1

I dont see why you couldn't - though you would need to add a heater if it doesn't come with one.

    • +1

You'd need a heater separately. Wouldn't cost you more than about $30

Great tank for plants, can grow High tech with co2 injection

      Dwarf shrimp, micro fish etc.

    • +2

Good for one stunted and short-lived goldfish.

  • weird, i thought i did but there it is.

    All up $186.50 delivered

  • Bought an awesome little tank, filter, pebbles and plants combo at Kmart for $29. I dont see why this one is worth this much.

    • +5

As far as its ability to hold water and keep fish alive, yes, the $29 Kmart one can peform the same function.

Eheim is one of the best brands of fish keeping products in the market.

The LED light that comes with this is likely to be able to sustain medium to mid-high light requirement plants.

      Your KMart one will not.

This one is meant to me aesthetically pleasing.

      Your Kmart one is not.

Eheim carries a premium price tag.

It is glass, and comes with a substantially better filter and light.

The high output LED light itself retails for around $140.

I put it up for anyone but mainly high tech plant enthusiasts, and aquascapers looking for a high quality nano setup at a reduced price.

  • Any aquariumlife members on here?

    • I am, not active now. Used to have a shed with 20 odd tanks. Plants mostly. Don't have the time anymore. Will take it up again when I retire. This is a great little nano setup by the looks. Things have changed since I had shrimp etc in a little nano setup. No LED lights etc back then.

Please note that if you are just starting out the hobby, this is probably not ideal.

Keeping fauna in a small tank is harder than keeping fauna in a bigger tank due to the less room for error should the water quality not be up to requirements.

Please also read up on 'Aquarium Tank Cycling' before you take the plunge.

Argh I pulled the trigger, I decided it would look nice on my computer desk :). Know to get some CRS.

    • +1

This tank would look fantastic with some HC plants and many 'Candy Canes'.

I keep CRS with a 20L tank (Perth).

It is hard and I have low grades.

I am emotionally preparing myself for deaths during the Perth summer.

      • I understand your pain.

I bought aquarium cooling fans off ebay last summer. Relatively cheap, and i did not loose any live stock compared to the previous summer.

They reduce the temp of your tank by about 4 degrees. Which is a huge improvement over frozen coke bottles, cold water changes, chillers (expensive and nano tanks can be difficult to plumb).

The fans cool the water via evaporation so top ups are needed.

Hook it up with http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123609 and save some heating cost.

  • Seriously people ! 24L is just enough for one lonely 2.4 cm fish. This is not nice at all.
Do it right, get a 200L aquarium !

    • 200L aquarium maintenance is almost a full time job instead of a hobby.

      • It can become full time, however a 200L aquarium can end up being more manageable than a 24L aquarium. As mentioned earlier smaller bodies of water have less room for error.

A nano tank say 35L and under, can end up needing more maintenance than a 200L tank.

So it depends on what you plan on keeping, space and diligence.

        • Sure in terms of PH, temperature and nutrients it's easier to keep an equilibrium in a larger volume, but I'm thinking about cleaning the thing. Cleaning takes 10 times the amount of time that water maintenance takes if you have the proper tools for both.

I have bad memories with the scour pad, siphon, water pump and my fathers 200L when I was a kid.

        • hahaha yes you are right about the labour side of it all.

I keep both large and small aquariums, you find yourself doing less more often on the small tanks.. and doing more less often on the big tanks.

  • +2

not everyone needs a 200lt tank.

I used to run two six foot tanks and a 2 footer.
Cichlids in one, discus in another, and a couple of yabbies in the 2 footer.

These days i have one of these and the 10 lt Fluval one as well.

The little 10 lt tank has 4 tetra's in it , and with a weekly 40% water change has been runnning perfectly for about 12 months.

Very nice little tanks for the end of a breakfast bar in the kitchen etc.

great quality, and they loook good.

    Dale

    • 2 foot = 60cm, with 40 cm hight and 30 cm depth you already have a 72L fishtank. That is already 3 times bigger then a 24L.
      I had 2 x 72L fishtanks and a 300L one. 300L much easyer to keep.

  • If all you want is a nano tank then this can be given a pass..
Yes its a premium brand but that lamp is an eye sore.

    This one for $65 less

    or this for $38 less

    are much better looking.

If CRS is all you want to keep then this 15l will also do

Sure you can find better prices around

    • I have purchased an aquatopia nano 25 in the past. Great little unit.

But if you want to grow things other than anubias, java fern and mosses, get the eheim eyesore :)

  • damn, damn, damn. I missed it.
