I've been researching laptops for the last few days and was hovering around one of these - best deal I could find was from The Good Guys and the price yesterday was $1098. Today, the price dropped to $898.

Latest Gen Haswell processor. Specifications : http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/model-datasheet/NX.M…

Only $2 for delivery.

Cashback from Acer of $149 : http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…

Store Credit of $60 if purchasing between 19th and 21st November (goes up to $140 if you add another $100 to your cart) : http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/store_credit…

Cheapest not including cashback is Good Guys old price of $1098

Officeworks have them in stock online for $1278. I tried calling to see if they would PM but they wouldn't as its flagged as "Clearance" on the Good Guys website.

Probably low stock - better move fast.

the description states Its Full HD touch display! not the first time either where the description says full hd only to see 1366x768 in details, i wonder if Acer is giving us ozzies the cheaper config?!

  • Wish I'd added some more stuff ($100) to my cart to get the additional $80 store credit.

I was worried the deal would go quickly or was a mistake!

BTW - this is the latest Haswell CPU

  • I would recommend avoiding the hybrid drives in these things, sounds like a novel idea but in practice it is the worst of both worlds. Waste of an i7 on those specs.

    • Why do you say its the worst of both worlds? I thought the 20Gb Cache drive was supposed to speed up commonly used programs. Does this not work? Please elaborate I'm keen to know. Thanks

      • technically it's added to laptop so they can call it an 'ultrabook' according to INTEL, but i don't notice much difference in app loading(add more RAM for that) i believe it just acts as the hibernation partition so going into/coming out of sleep is faster, and yes it is faster in that respect

        • no DVD drive makes it thinner. 8GB RAM and latest i7 should also make it fast. Not sure on the official definition of "Ultrabook" but I saw the i5 version of this in JB HiFi (for more money) and was impressed.

  • No optical drive
