  • Thanks! I will go there tomorrow! How did you got the offer? Can I get the more offer? What is the $180 saved voucher?

    • It was advertised in the Herald Sun. The savings coupons will be handed out at the door. Won't find out what those specials will be until tomorrow.

Piss poor specials for the opening imo.
The $150 off the TV is the bulk of the "over $180 in savings"

      • Those are valid at all Costco locations. I suspect there will be separate opening specials for Ringwood.

        • Yes available at all outlets.
The email sent for the opening of Ringwood said:

We are also offering over $180* in special opening coupons for our members, to celebrate the openings.
*Total savings if all coupons are used. Coupons will be available at the warehouse and on our website.

I'd be surprised if what I have linked isnt the coupons they are referring to and also the ones they will hand out at the door.
There will be nothing different to these…imo.
Nothing in the email suggests Ringwood only specials available.

Hope I am surprised tomorrow morning.

Turned out too be a piss poor opening at Ringwood. Nothing on special apart from the eggs. Rest are just the normal discounts.

To be fair, it costs $55 to get them.
Last year's financials nearly all their profit comes from membership revenue. So it's just not free…

    • +1

Well it's for existing members. They would have already paid their membership, so yes it is free.

      • -2

That's like me buying some bread and saying I got my bread free coz I already paid for it.

I don't like the logic at all.

        • +1

          then don't go?

        • +1

Well put it this way. If I walk in to Costco Docklands tomorrow and I want these eggs I will have to physically pay for them on the day. If I walk into Costco Ringwood I won't have to physically pay for them. To me that's free.

        • +1

The membership is fully refundable within a year. Get a membership, use it for say 11 months (or not), then get a refund. Or get a membership, then cancel the next day.

i think there is a clause where you cannot rejoin again for 12 months or something.

  • How much are the eggs if you buy them? lol.

    • if you have to ask….. time to hand in your ozb badge for doubting free stuff. ;)

  • Best deal: Slab(24) of Jim Beam white label cans for $66.48
Worst deal: Small cauliflower for $6.49ea, probably only 500g weight for some of them. They are $3.98ea at Woolworths.

    Differences to Docklands:
You need $1 or $2 coin for the trolley (council regulations).
There was no charge for parking, doesn't look like they even plan to have the same ticketing system.
Two levels of parking and imo much better space markings and what I can only describe as mini speed humps in each bay to help prevent you stealing space from the adjacent bay.
Two lifts but only single doors for entry and exit.

And no surprise regarding the opening specials or lack of.

  • Don't even bother going today… went on my lunch break and the line was all the way from the front of the store to the back to buy anything… way too many people. Actually, its scary how many people there were. Don't these people have jobs?

    • I think the novelty will wear off in a few weeks.

    • I went around 9am. Wasn't that busy. Didn't get the free eggs as I already had 12 in the fridge. But enjoyed a hot dog and a coke.
