May be cheaper but you also lose Australian warranty and blu-ray playback would be locked to region A.

  • +7

Considering there are quite a few faulty PS4s being discovered (even read the reviews on Amazon; Dead On Arrival, blank screens…) are you sure you want to buy overseas?

    • +1

Must be a bad faulty early manufacturing batch. May be worth holding off before buying the PS4 console from overseas. Would be pain and costly having to send a shipping box that size through Australia Post all the way back to the US.

Not a good start for the PS4.

    Product Alert
Due to extremely high demand, Amazon.com is currently sold out of the PlayStation 4 inventory. However, there may be offers available from Marketplace Sellers. Please check back on the Amazon Video Games Facebook page for the next update on when Amazon.com will have more PlayStation 4s.

    • +1

That's the PS4 accessories. If you look further up the page slightly it says the PS4 launch day bundle is in stock. But as been said there's been a high amount of DOA consoles being discovered according to the feedback review. The blinking blue light DOA issue.

  • -3

Considering the next batch of ps4 are arriving around March 2014.
I think this is worth the gamble. Worst case, it's just posatage back to Amazon.

    • +2

Wonder how much it would cost to send a box the size of the PS4 console box back to the US on international tracked freight through Australia Post. A fair bit i'd say.

Remember it's cheaper sending the goods from the US to Australia but the other way around back to the US shipped through Australia Post it's quite different.

      • -3

Lets say $100, i'd say that's worth while instead of waiting 4 months for stock.
The game alone should be worth that much for you to keep.
These will sell for a mint here in Australia, ebay sales indicate $750 plus.

        • Why do you keep claiming 4months? No console in Australia has ever been sold out for that long, Wii and PS3 was sold out in USA for 6 odd months, but easily available here.
They ship more to Aus and Europe due to higher profit margins it seems.

        • and then you won't have a ps4 to play for one month and what if it came back 2 days later it was faulty again? wait another a month and pay another $100 to ship it over?

        • -1

          I'll take my 0.4% chance..

        • I reckon it would be much higher than 0.4%. People had only started receiving their consoles it's early days yet and as it takes time to submit a warranty return. It's only been a day since release in the USA. Wait until Sony starts receiving these complaints from more of the people who've just received their consoles and launch day stock then you'll see that percentage figure jump up. Going by customer reviews it's more like 1 in 6 people who have hardware issues with their PS4 console. There seems to be a lot of consoles with a faulty HDMI port.

You read the customer reviews on Amazon and you'll see them saying a long the lines of my console is bricked flashing blue light only to see the very next comment say DOA blue light flashing or would not turn on and so on with the next comment. The issue is much worse than you think and or what Sony is officially letting on. More and more people are posting their reviews on Amazon all the time now saying about the their console experiencing the console death flashing blue light issue.

        • +1

That is a fair point but half the comments are from people trolling.
Plus you can be certain that every person that received a faulty ps4 would have left a negative comment. Do you really think Amazon only sold 50 units? I would say the number to be in the thousands.

  • +1

Also be aware that the PS Plus code is likely to only be valid with a US account. I ordered a Vita a while back from Amazon and the PS plus code would only work if I started a new US account.

    • +1

download the dlc in the american account, switch over to your regular psn account, voilà it generally works!

      • You cannot switch accounts on a PS Vita. Your suggestion will only apply to a PS3 (maybe PS4 too?).

  • +1

    … and its gone!

    • What's gone?.

If you mean the PS4 with BF4 launch day bundle no that's still In Stock.

    • … And now it is back. (flicking between available and sold out???)

      • That's not happening here. Must be a bug in your web browser.

        • I've tried two browsers and it says it's available, but then out of stock when I go to cart.

        • +1

This is what was happening to me.
I just removed it from my cart, then re-added it and tried again… 3rd or 4th attempt work.

        • Alas, it's not an option to add any more for me - "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available."

        • Oh yes it is sold out.

  • LOL

  • Where is everyone pulling the "high amount of dead consoles" from? I have heard of isolated incidents that so far look to be inline with the failure rates expected from any first run mass batch of a complex electronic product.

    • +1

From the customer reviews section further down the bottom of the page.

      • +1

Not sure if that's the best source for faults, with so many people flipping the console. Trolls that never even open the box could be leaving negative reviews for the "lulz".

If there is a genuine issue it wont be long before credible news sites begin reporting it, still any expensive shipment is a gamble from amazon.

    • IGN posted a poll asking if people had been having problems with their ps4 and about 35% had hardware problems when I looked at it. Though there could be lots of people just trolling. The overheating thing seems kind of serious though

  • +2
    • thats just sad

    • +1

Mental disorders are a pretty serious problem over there.

  • Is this worth the buy?

I mean some one just suggested these would go for a bit on eBay, that makes me worried that alot of the ones on eBay could be these amazon ones that have what looks like a 60% of DOA and if thats the case, who do you blame for your failed console, the ebay seller? or Sony? if your based in AUS seems like alot of effort for a $70 save…

    • Oz
      Ps4: $550
      Bf4: $80
      1 year +: 69.95

      =699.95

      • -2

You might as well remove that 1 year of PS Plus code as it won't work on Australian accounts.

        • so get an american account and download it?

        • +1

As above, account switching ie download with US account but play with AU account, only works on the PS3. This means you will not be able to access the PS+ Vita games on your AU account.

        • while that is relevant information, no vita games is better than having someone think your ps plus code won't work at all

      • the plus is US only according to other posts…so really you'd wanna sell it on US ebay, then buyt an aus one, its a bit of stuffing around…

not saying its not worth it, but for the amount of risk, ide say this deal may of made me buy an PS4 IF there wasent this fail rate issue.

  • And sold out…

  • -1
  • I see the Sony has gone back to using disc slot loading with the PS4 as it was with the original PS3 and PS3 slim.

    • I'd say they only went with that tray thing for cost reasons, which is fine on an old rejigged model, but for a new flagship, it just looks bad.

  • +1

Don't forget the Brack Friday Bunduru!

  • -8

No aussie warranty and not able to play blurays bought here….
Cool ya jets and wait, it's not worth the grief.

    • +4

Not sufficiently valid reasons to neg the post though

  • Wait for the Sony TV & PS4 bundle deal this Xmas. You might get the PS4 via redemption like previous deal?

    • Sony deals for summer are already go. They're giving away 31 PS4 units to purchasers of other Sony products, $500 debit cards with 4K tellies and not much else.

When they can't get enough PS4's to actually sell, I doubt that they'd be giving away hundreds/thousands of them. Wait until Christmas 2014. :)

  • this bundle isn't really a bargain. i could have bought the launch bundle yesterday for $454 delivered using the fastest delivery but I missed out at the last second. Considering all the reports of faulty units that are now popping up on the web perhaps it's good that I didn't.

    • +1

It technically is a bargain as console p,us game plus psn is cheaper than in oz.
U will get faulty ones in oz and usa.

Personally im gonna stick with xbox one.

A major point to note is the realease day consoes r the easiest to mod..if u want to run homebrew.
The later generations usually patches up the easy holes.

      • -2

Don't forgot you'll need to buy a PSN Plus code from Australian stock as that US PSN Plus code from this US console can't be used in Australia. So you'll need to add an extra $70 to the price if you'll want 12 months PSN Plus. In that case it then becomes $621 AUD. Remember the prices listed in the topic is $ USD prices.

Compare that to the $548 PS4 console from JB Hi-Fi or Dick Smith, BF4 for PS4 for $79 from JB Hi-Fi and PSN Plus 12 months for $69.95 from Sony and that's $696.95 for Australian stock. You're only saving about $76 in the end with this US console from Amazon but losing Australian warranty and losing the ability to play region B locked blu-ray movies. If you have an amount of region B blu-ray movies then it wouldn't be wise to buy the US console.

  • I see that the PS4 with BF4 launch day bundle is back in stock except for from a third party seller at $999.99 USD. Like wow that seller was obviously an opportunist BRODEN sourcing goods from amazon.com at $500 then re-selling at $1000.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DE2W5XG?ie=UTF8&seller=A…

    • Well it's now $1099.99 USD from the same seller. I see this seller is trying to cash in big time as in rip-off merchant. It's only over twice as much as what it's actually worth.
