I'm currently renovating a 110m2 unit and unlike the unit we live in now we weren't lucky enough to see parquetry under the disgusting carpet.
My wife decided to check out StylePlantation in Rosebery. She came out loving bamboo and thought the salesperson was great, however the prices as $110/m2 so in all $11000 bucks for the whole job.
I've since been to Masters and an albeit thinner Bamboo board is $43.75/m2, and the same one at bunnings comes with a 25 year warranty. Next week Masters has a 10% off, so it will be about $39, however I guess we will probably eat 10% in offcuts and wastage? Their 10mm spotted gum is only $59-10%=$54. They also have free underlay until 2 weeks from now.
If I was comparing apples for apples (which I'm not since the Style Plantation boards were thicker and wider) then $11,000 - $4812.50 = $6187.50. Sounds like a lot to pay for installation. Considering the 25yr warranty I guess the Masters boards should be good enough?
Does anyone know how much I should be up for regarding installation and skirting etc. this board comes polished, so no polishing is required, however if I go the Australian woods (blackbutt, spotted gum, etc.) then I'm up for some extra in polishing and also maybe laying.
Is there a standard rate for a chippy/flooring person to do this stuff? Also does anyone know anything about the above pricing, good/bad? and finally the product, bamboo hasn't been around for long and I only know one person with it who put it in last year, so far they like it but who knows 10 years from now.
Thanks in advance
