Anyone been to these auction before? Are they any good?
How can you state cheap before an Auction ???
-this was all over the media too so not sure there will be all that many bargains.
Hope someone gets a good deal nevertheless .
Great list of things for sales. They should auction on ebay to earn more.
Wow, I wonder if they wipe the hard drives on all those laptops, or do you get someone else's "content"?!
It appears they take the drives out.
Was there today. It was completely packed in the huge hall (probably close to 1000people).
People got quite crazy with the prices and didnt do any homework before bidding. One lady near me won an ipad mini 16Gb for around $300. She looks quite happy. With 16.5% fee + 1.1% surcharge (for CC or cash), that would be around $350+ final price. Wonder what happen when she find out that more than the price at Officeworks!
Only hang around hoping to get either a Sennheiser PXC-450 headphones (RRP $600) or a Bose Quietcomfort 15 (RRP $400) for under $100. But they both went close to $175-$200. Oh well.
thanks for the review. I think people get swept up in auction frenzy, i didn't bother going
Went at 9am, too many people, knew I wouldn't get a bargain so left half an hour later.
Omg, so many iPads and iPhones, whats wrong with these people how can you even lose them…
I was going to go but though there were too few lots and I'd expect a lot more people due to the publicity it got.
For an airport with that many customers you'd expect a lot more lost property.
I wonder how many lost property 'disappeared' over the year.
I was there and won one of the bose headphones. Going by the new unopened packet of batteries and the fact they are blue limited edition guessing it was from the USA.
Timhn and first in line wish I had know you were there - would have been great to meet other ozbargainers.
Speaking with the guys at pickles today they made $175,000 which was $75,000 above what they thought they would get. They had a few people refuse to pick up and pay for their items today as I am guessing they checked how much they overbid for them and were prepared to lose their deposit paid.
If you saw the news on Sat night on Channel 10 - I was interviewed and talked about the lost cooking oil.
that is a hell lot of items.
