KOGAN Retro DAB, FM, Bluetooth, Internet, Wi-Fi Radio $74 + Delivery

80

I bought one of these on this special a couple of weeks ago.

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119979

It was $89 shipped. This deal would be $95 shipped (to my Sydney address).

I'm really impressed with it. Great features - especially for the price.

It picks up all my music on my XBMC server (browseable / scrollable by genre, artist, album and song). I believe it should do that for any DLNA server (apparently itunes, windows media player etc ?).

It picks up hundreds (probably thousands) of internet radio stations - including all the local ones I care to know about.

If I wanted I could stream to it via bluetooth from my phone (Pandora etc).

Plus it has DAB and FM.

Each option seems to have 10 presets.

It is obviously not audiophile sound or apple-esque finish and design - but I find the sound and look more than adequate for bedroom/ kitchen etc. Mine is in the kitchen and plays classical or jazz off internet radio most of the time. We have an open plan kitchen / living room and it is fine for background music with friends etc - and less effort and less invasive than firing up the amp / stereo / media centre.

Re the midnight cutoff today. When I bought mine I had it in my basket before the deadline but forgot to check out. Early the next morning I went into my basket and it was still there at the special price and the free postage - and I was able to check out and pay. Your results may vary of course.

Doesnt seem that cheap just standard price.
Basic dab sell at the chains for 20-30$ so paying $90 for aretro look is excessive.

basic dab? but what would you price one with internet and network streaming? I'm sure its better value than you think.

      • Yip - and fm and bluetooth.

        • and speakers…

I got this for $45 on Monday from Harvey Norman http://www.harveynorman.com.au/bush-horizon-dab-digital-alar…

Online said $77 in store was $46.

    • I just clicked that link and the live chat came up it. This is what appeared lol.

"Mehdi:Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice, talk to a Harvey Norman expert now."

Quick run! Their on to us!!! :P

    • Your point being? That has no internet radio, no bluetooth, no network media capability.

      • People really need to start comparing apples with apples.

  • Can this run on battery power or AC only? Specs dont say….

    • Pretty sure mains only. Can check when I get home. You can download the manual from the product page (user manuals tab).

  • Hey Belbo, can you enter in an internet radio stream web address into it, or can you only choose the ones that are pre-stored in the device?

    e.g. http://radio1.internode.on.net:8000/53

    • User manual is here: http://media.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/KADABBTTBLA-A.pdf

1.10 Add Station to ‘My Added Stations’
Even though the Internet radio portal contains thousands of stations, you may want to listen
to stations not listed. You can add your own stations via the portal.
      1. Visit website:
      http://www.wifiradio-frontier.com
      2. Login as a member (at previous page, you registered)

      So perhaps……

      • Thanks for that. :)
Seems like a similar setup that my Yammy receiver has.

        • I haven't actually tried adding a custom station. I'm with internode too so can give that address of yours a go. Not sure if I'll do it before midnight tonight though. (Try putting it in your basket before midnight if you think you might want it - you could get lucky and be able to check out later - like I was able to do before).

  • Russell Koglan special?

  • Bought and paid with PayPal to get the 2 for 1 Movies offer, although after reading the T&C I doubt it will do anything for me.
