just wondering if anyone can give me tips as to when the good deals for aircons come up.
not in a hurry but ideally would like to put an ac into lounge room. i remember about a year ago retravision had samsung aircons for $990 fully installed (3.5 KW unit)but since then haven't really seen anything remotely close to that price.

My understanding is that the manufacturers sell them to retailers at the same price all year, however mid year some of them have cash back promotions, so look for this.
Installation doesn't really change.
I think you just missed out. October seems to be when the best prices are generally. I just got The Good Guys to knock off $200 (7Kw unit I think). I then got $250 cash back from the good guys and another $200 cash back from Samsung.
When I got a quote for Evaporative last summer the guy said they can do it cheaper in October as well, just because of how busy they were. I was too late, and they lost out on my money for that reason.
Yeah going in to summer probably isn't the best time to be looking for a deal on air conditioning.
