Cheap Logitech G19- Take note this is the older version and not the G19s but there hasn't much much of a upgrade with the new keyboard

So many keys and not a single one of them with a mechanical switch, pass! But decent price anyhow.

I absolutely love my G19 for the screen, I use it all the time. If they brought out a mechanical version, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Why they haven't done this already baffles me.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I read "pedogirl" at first haha something must be wrong with me :S

Keep in mind, for $129 you could get a decent mechanical keyboard.

Dear, but mechanical keyboards don't have the useful macro keys, and the LCD can be really useful with the right applets (not the rubbish Logitech ones). With LCDSirReal, I know at a glance what my CPU usage is, upload & Download speeds, time, date, and RAM Usage. Other applets can display a games frame rate, GPU Ram consumption, how hard the GPU is working, etc. The backlighted keys can be useful at night if you want to use your computer without a light on.

Also, ownership of mechanical keyboards seems to have a 90% chance of turning people into obnoxious, arrogant snobs. I tire of these narcissists endlessly prattling on about how wonderful they are because they own a mechanical keyboard.

This is probably the cheapest you will pick up a G19.

      Ahem… http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-g710-mechanical-gamiā€¦

Though I would agree that the LCD is amazing with the right apps. If only there was a mechanical keyboard with a screen.

In addition to the aforementioned G710+ you have the Razer Blackwidow, Tt Meka G, Gigabyte Osmium, Corsair K95, AZiO Levetron; just off the top of my head. Way more than that though with macro keys.

The back-lighting you get on mechanical keyboards is way brighter, unlike Logitech's rubber-dome G-series which simply have an illuminated membrane underneath the keys, mechanical keyboards have individual LEDs under each keycap.

I had a G15 and the only LCD applet I missed is the FPS counter for FRAPS and CoreTemp's CPU/Memory frequency and usage monitor. And if I'm not mistaken the G15 had more widespread driver support amongst games/applications compared to the newer G19 yet despite owning one for 2 years I found maybe 3 LCD applets that were actually worth using on a regular basis.

Besides that, everything else was basically a gimmick and displayed information that was in most cases 2 to 3 clicks away unless you were in a full-screen application. I just replaced my LCD read-outs with applications that can display useful metrics in the system tray and Windows gadgets, which do the job for the most part.

I use my G19 quite a bit, mostly for communication apps. FalNET works wonders here. Skype integration is amazing, if I'm in the middle of a game and someone calls me, I just look down at the keyboard and accept or decline the call, turn my mic on or off, etc. The Ventrilo plugin is also way better than the G15 version, you can easily see who's talking, switch channels, even do admin tasks with it.

Essentially it's good when you're in a full screen application such as a game, hence why it's intended for gamers.

Ive had my old G15 for around 8 years now i think.. still going strong if i was in need of a new keyboard i would probably use this deal ;)

I have one already, and it's nice, another could be handy. I have 2x G15 (which I still prefer) but the LCD is not as advanced. $129 is not such a bad price, though I will say I have no end of trouble with the Logitech Gaming Software getting corrupted.

Edit: Oh, I still notice little difference between a Black Widow Ultimate & G19 when playing games like Wolf: Enemy Territory, or any other key mashing game.

    • oh god this^^.. the Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) software bugs out alot.. i use a G13 with my G15,G9x .. the G13 is completely useless unless the software is running correctly.. it doesnt like going into sleep mode (that kills LGS for some reason).. half the time the profile loads up to the wrong one *default instead of my custom one.. even tho i have my custom set as default and persistant..

      • Tell me bout it! I have a couple of G7 Cordless which I've now switched out with Razer Mamba's because of Logitech's crap software, give my systems a few days of up-time and the software goes spastic. My Freedom 2.4 Cordless is about the only Logitech device I own which runs well on homebrand software.

These days I'm going Razer all the way :)
