Westinghouse 420L Top Mount Fridge $749 (Via Redemption) + $49 Delivery @ Harvey Norman

20

Normally I avoid HN like the plague unless price matching but I think this is a decent deal. Harvey Norman are selling the Westinghouse 420L Top Mount Fridge (WTM4200WBR) for $839 with a bonus $90 eftpos card.

The effective price becomes $749 + $49 delivery = $798 delivered. Free in-store pickup is also an option.

We bought the exact same fridge over the weekend at another retailer for $810 + $45 delivery which was the best price we could find on the day. (Harvey Norman's price was $999 with no eftpos card and they would only match the Good Guys price of $817 + $45 delivery).

Australian made fridge with 2.5 star energy rating. Note that the eftpos cash card redemption looks to be with HN themselves (not the manufacturer) and seems to only apply to the Right Hinge model. I'm not sure if you could buy the Left Hinge model and still be eligible, might be worth going in-store and showing them the url to see what they say.

    • Wow what a shame, I didn't realize that Electrolux have also bitten into the offshoring poisoned apple. Hopefully our fridge hasn't been assembled by disillusioned workers that will soon be out of a job :(

That fridge looks very cramped inside.

    • Yeah not a super big fridge. We actually have a 6 year old Westinghouse 420L which is still going strong and the new fridge is going to be the second fridge.

Looking at the inside of it, I would recommend it only for a single person or couple. A family (3-4+) is going to fill this thing in less than an hour.

    • 420 litre is fine for the average small family

  • I'd ask JB to price match, but we're starting to like them again and I've not struck one of their stores on the Gold Coast that won't, when asked. We recently got this https://www.jbhifihome.com.au/50kW-Inverter-Split-System-Air… for $1249 by doing exactly that, when HN had a "cashback" deal on them. About 12 months ago we also got Masters to price match a fridge that was about $300 off on another HN cashback deal. Like OP, I can't stand HN, their after-sales is awful.

        • Sorry, that's news to me that they sell fridges. Never seen them in store.

There's only one in NSW I think (in Moore Park). I just had a fridge and washing machine from them delivered this morning. Both are replacements since the first delivery had issues, their customer service is pretty good.. they were pretty easy to deal with getting replacements.

  • Personally, I would get this one:

    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/393l-samsung-fridge-sr392…

Slightly smaller, but much better in every other way.

    • Also, see other thread about buying via your (free) Virgin Airlines m'ship site to get 3K+ freq flyer points for purchasing from Appliances Online this month / year w' free deivery.

  • it is good to note what you are actually getting back…its not exactly cash

    Q. What is an eftpos card and where can I use it?
    A. An eftpos card is a single use gift card which can be used for purchases anywhere eftpos is accepted, at the merchant’s discretion. Cards cannot be used to withdraw cash

Eftpos cash card is not redeemable for cash and cannot be used in the transaction in which it is issued. Eftpos cash card expires 12 months from date of activation. Activation needed within 90 days of supply
