Agree, I bought it on Xbox 360 years back and to date it is one of the better narrative games I've played.
I found Alan Wake to be hackneyed, clichéd and repetitive for the most part — but perhaps my disappointment was partly due to my overly high expectations. YMMV; I say it's still worth trying at this price if you haven't played it, because my view is probably in the minority. :)
Papers Please, on the other hand, I enjoyed quite a bit despite it being repetitive by design! Glory to Arstotzka! :)

You obviously played a different game to the Alan Wake I played on the 360.
